Required Qualifications:

Supervisor of Fiscal Services
Description:
Supervisor of Fiscal Services. Year round, 1.0 FTE.
Job Summary:
Supervise the day-to-day financial operations including junior accounting and clerical staff. Provide technical financial support to the Director of Finance and Operations to ensure the efficient operation of the school district.
Assist the Director of Finance in the leadership of the department. Supervise and train junior financial and clerical staff in best practices for accounting, policies, internal controls, and computer-aided accounting systems including upgrades and enhancements. Ensure that staff members are properly trained to prepare and record accurate and timely accounting transactions and entries.
Coordinate the districts revenue and expenditure budget and project salaries and benefits of the school district. Assist in position control of district staff as it relates to budgeting.
Provide financial information to district leaders and staff. Report the bi-monthly cash flow to the Director of Finance and Operations. Provide expenditure data for building construction/(LTFM) projects. Monitor all federal grant revenue and expenditures.
Analyze and verify the accuracy of accounting entries. Review and approve all accounting entries and monitor the general ledger. Manage the chart of accounts and make adjustments as required for state and federal reporting.
Assist in the preparation of the annual audit; prepare documentation for auditors; create final reconciliations of general ledger accounts; determine and record year-end estimates and accruals; ensure records comply with legal requirements; communicate with auditors.
Manage district financial information by assisting in the maintenance and safekeeping of all district financial information as required by state law.
Manage all state, federal and local district grants by assuring proper accounting of revenue and expenses to comply grant requirements. Validate grants are properly accounted for at year-end.
Project cash flow to ensure proper levels to support business needs. Manage investments to maximize returns. Provide for the reconciliation of cash and investments on a monthly basis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business required.
Three years of previous accounting experience preferred.
Previous experience in school finance preferred.
Public auditing experience preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of accounting/auditing/payroll procedures, state and federal accounting guidelines, independent audit requirements and internal controls.
Knowledge of governmental accounting standards, including Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP) and the Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting System (UFARS) with respect to the district’s financial activities.
Proficiency with a variety of software applications
Knowledge of UFARS.
In-depth knowledge of school finances and related statutes.
Knowledge of accounting procedures and processes.
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively with school staff and the public
