Summary

Under the general direction of the ECFP Supervisor, the Outreach Parent Educator (TOSA) will facilitate the outreach efforts for our early learning program, building relationships with families in community locations, making home visits and increasing awareness of and engagement in our programs and services. In addition, this position will work with colleagues to develop ongoing substantial family engagement in our preschool program. The Outreach Parent Educator will also research and present current information on family topics, planning, developing lesson plans and facilitating parent groups to discuss and explore family needs.

Required Qualifications:

– Current Minnesota Parent Education licensure
– Knowledge of Parent Education, Adult learning and Parent Education Framework
– Experience working with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to be culturally and linguistically responsive
– Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
– Demonstrated experience of working effectively with parents and children
– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, district personnel and families
– Strong organizational skills
– Experience with Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint and Smartboard programs
– Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision
– Evidence of self motivation, enthusiasm, patience, problem solving skills and flexibility

Preferred Qualifications:

– Experience with early childhood home visiting
– Bilingual

Summary
Under the general direction of the ECFP Supervisor, the PreK-3rd Grade Parent Educator (TOSA) will facilitate parent education efforts for our PreK program as well as for the early elementary grades, partnering with schools to build relationships with families, facilitate ongoing family engagement in preschool, offer parent academy classes, make home visits and coordinate Kindergarten transitions. The PreK-3rd Grade Parent Educator will also research and present current information on family topics, planning, developing lesson plans and facilitating parent groups to discuss and explore family needs.

Required Qualifications:
Must possess a MN teaching license in Secondary General Education or Secondary Special Education;
Minimum five years of direct related teaching experience;
Strong working knowledge of secondary curriculum and research based best practices;
Strong working knowledge of modifications, adaptations and interventions across content areas;
Strong working knowledge in the use of assessment and assessment data to inform instruction and behavior intervention supports;
Exceptional oral and written communication skills;

Strong working knowledge of Restorative Practices and restorative language;
Prior successful experience in an urban setting working with a diverse student population is highly desirable.

Major Areas of Accountability:Teach students assigned to Alternative to Suspension Program in their current enrolled courses;
Communicate with students` home school liaisons regarding assignments;
Keep appropriate data related to student performance while attending the Alternative to Suspension Program;
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning;
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual(s) or student groups involved:
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
Maintain accurate up-to-date attendance records for all students;
Supervise students in out of classroom activities during the assigned workday;
Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals and methods;
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:  This position will be on a collaborative team that teaches to standards in an interdisciplinary approach.  Candidates will be expected to assess on standards and learning targets and provide responsive instruction. The team will works out of intentional learning spaces and instruction is planned to happen in various locations and classrooms in the building.

Compensation and Yearly Duration of Employment:  Compensation will be determined by District 112 and the Chaska Education Association (CEA).
