This is a full time teaching position assigned to our Options Program.  The Options program will be starting its 9th year and is an opportunity for students to chase their dreams, passions, and potential future careers as we prepare students to be college and career ready.  Students and teachers work together in a project based environment to develop learning pathways based on the interests and academic strengths of the students that coincide with our state standards.  Students work on projects based on these interests and academic strengths through research, community expert collaborations, and hands on experiences through our local workforce partnerships.

Students also have the ability to create learning opportunities with our community business partners to have hands on career experiences and explorations through our mentorship program.  The teacher works with our business partners to develop these mentorship experiences for our students.

Nutrition and Wellness Specialist

Nutrition and Wellness Specialist

Mankato Area Public Schools has a full-time (1.000 FTEs) position as a Nutrition and Wellness Specialist available beginning on or about August 1, 2018.

Summary of Duties: Coordinates and develops all components of student and staff wellness, including nutrition education, physical activity and the implementation of school wellness policies.  See complete job description attached for additional information.

Qualifications Required:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in foods, nutrition, dietetics or community health.
Minimum of one year of experience in nutrition, which may include internship experience.
Strong skills in public speaking and presentations to a wide range of audiences
Organizational and coordinating skills related to program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of population groups.
Experience within a school system and knowledge of USDA school meal programs preferred.
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Salary: $44 – $50,000 with excellent benefits
