Special Education Teacher – EBD/SLD or ABS
Position open until filled. Skills Needed: Behavior management skills, ability to teach secondary-aged students. Excellent knowledge of due process and all paperwork regarding special education. Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other school staff. Comfortable with change, self-motivated, dedicated, responsible and on time with due process paperwork. Specific Tasks: All duties and responsibilities commensurate with a special education teacher EBD/SLD or ABS in a secondary school setting. General Definition of Work: Performs difficult professional work providing instruction ensuring all students within the academic discipline area learn and achieve academic excellence, achieve self mastery and social competency and develop their own missions(purpose) and vision for a positive future and an environment favorable to learning, teaching a broad range of subjects or specialized subject matter(s), teaching special needs students, motivating students to achieve maximum potential, and related work as apparent or assigned. Non-Administrative Coordinator
The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for providing technical assistance to teachers, principals and district administration in the RRSEC (Rum River Special Education Co-operative) member districts to ensure that all students with disabilities are served appropriately. The Special Education Coordinator will work in collaboration with school administrators to develop and maintain child find, identification, assessment, placement and IEP development and review processes in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations. The Special Education Coordinator will provide and/or assist in providing professional development activities in order to increase knowledge and skills of special education staff, regular education teachers, administrators and support staff.
