Hiawatha Collegiate High School (HCHS) seeks a hard-working, passionate, and goal-oriented candidate to join our team as our Operations Coordinator for the 2024-25 school year. 

Job Summary

The Operations Coordinator (OC) is responsible for implementing a powerful vision for supporting student achievement by helping to manage remote and site-based operations. The OC will support classroom teachers and school leaders by managing attendance systems, supporting food services and facilities, as well as day-to-day operations for HCHS. We passionately believe that smooth and effective operations allow the instructional team to focus on preparing every student for success in college and in life. The Operations Coordinator is a member of the HCHS Operations Team and reports directly to the Dean of Operations (DO).

Responsibilities

Attendance Management 

  • Manage daily attendance systems
  • Train staff on attendance and breakfast count systems
  • Manage Accuracy of daily attendance systems
  • Communicate daily with families and staff about absences
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on attendance records, tracking, supporting, and reporting
  • Conduct periodic truancy reporting to Hennepin County

Family and Staff Communication and Office Support 

  • Respond to student injuries/illnesses and provide first aid
  • Serve as an interpreter for teachers and families
  • Complete translations for teachers and families
  • Provide general office support as needed
  • Manage student arrival and dismissal logistics
  • Support DO with new staff logistics and onboarding

Event Coordination 

  • Coordinate fall and spring picture days
  • Coordinate annual vision and hearing screenings
  • Support the coordination of all campus events
  • Support food service with lunch coverage and setting up for events where food is served
  • Support with field trip coordination
  • Support with transportation coordination
  • Support DO with assessment logistics and technology management
  • Support DO with vendor procurement and management

Operations Support 

  • Support student meal distribution and food service vendor management.
  • Support DO in overall facilities management
  • Support additional school operations areas as needed

*Perform other duties as required and assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to creatively develop and manage systems
  • Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish and/or Somali preferred)
  • Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and problem-solve
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Google Suite
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making and professional discretion
  • Ability to learn the budgeting process, laws, rules, procedures, and programs specifically related to the operation of a Minnesota charter school
  • Experience working in a K-12 setting with a diverse student population

Compensation: The starting salary range for this position is $47,380 – $51,023 based on years of experience in an equivalent role. Salary will be prorated to the start date and based on FTE. Employees are paid bi-monthly.

Benefits: This position is benefit-eligible on the first of the month following the start date. Hiawatha Employment Logistics

  • HCHS students’ school day is from 8:45am-3:45pm, Monday-Thursday and 8:45am-2:00pm on Friday.
  • Staff must be present from 8:15am-4:15pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Professional development sessions are held each Friday from 2:15pm-4:15pm.
  • All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in all family events at the school.

Lead Behavior Specialist (elementary)

Minimum Requirements: 

Must have a valid MN teaching license, or Social Worker (Pre-K -12), School Counselor license, School Psychologist or an administrative license, or be able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in areas of PBIS and restorative practices
  • Successful experience supporting students and staff through positive behavioral interventions
  • Leadership experience leading a PBIS system, introducing it to students and staff and providing coaching and professional learning opportunities for staff
  • Experience organizing and analyzing behavioral data to make informed decisions
  • Ability to support student behavior to ensure a safe, supportive, equitable and culturally responsive learning environment
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in working with students and families of diverse racial and economic backgrounds

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the PBIS system on a PreK-grade 5 continuum
  • Promote positive student-student and staff-student relationship building
  • Collaborate with building administration to plan and implement a building-wide PBIS system using restorative practices
  • Monitor and track behavior data and make adjustments to our systems
  • Make program recommendations to ensure the discipline process is restorative
  • Provide individual support for student behavioral and social-emotional needs
  • Provide support to families to promote positive school/family relationships and enhance student learning
  • Lead the climate/culture committee
  • Foster a community where all people are valued, respected, seen and heard
  • Inspire robust academics that integrate multiple perspectives, critical and creative thinking, and continuous personal growth

  • This is an onsite position and the pay is $54,000 – $92,000 (annually) varies on education and experience.

Responsibilities
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

Provide consultation to staff and parents for improving students’ academic and behavioral success through pre-referral interventions, observations and classroom strategies.
Develop and implement strategies for improving academics and students’ behavior including collecting, analyzing and interpreting data in the classroom and other school settings, using systems such as RTI and PBIS.
Participate in and conduct trainings for district staff on aspects of problem-solving including data collection and analysis, cultural competence in assessment and positive behavioral supports.
Assist school staff in the identification of students with disabilities ages birth through 21, including ELL students, through participation in pre-referral activities, child study committees and consultation activities, and in planning appropriate assessment and reassessment procedures for students.
Administer intellectual, social/emotional, adaptive behavior and other normed referenced instruments including scoring and interpretation providing both written and oral reports to parents, students and professionals.
Administer and interpret informal assessments including parent, teacher and student interviews, observations in the classroom and other settings to aid in supporting results from formal assessment.
Assist school staff with due process procedures including eligibility requirements, parent rights and record keeping.
Assist in school district projects or special activities that require consultation and/or direct services of a school psychologist.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Spanish Speaking Cultural Liaison (.5 FTE)
