Assignment Information:
Our Director of Academic Programs is a full-time, full year position.
The terms and conditions of this position are covered by an individual contract.
Salary and benefits are regionally competitive. Salary is commensurate with the incumbents experience and qualifications.  Minimum salary is $130,000.
Preference will be given to applicants who apply by June 2, but we will accept applications until June 9.

Summary/Primary Objective of Position:
The Director of Academic Programs provides visionary, strategic leadership in the development, alignment, and continuous improvement of K–12 curriculum, instruction and programs. The role ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, dispositions and mindsets necessary for ongoing success and future readiness. This leader works collaboratively across departments and schools to implement rigorous and innovative academic programming, integrating instructional technology, experiential learning, and culturally responsive teaching practices

Job Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Curriculum Leadership and Program Design

  • Lead the District’s curriculum review process, aligned with the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, management of all review phases, and reporting to the School Board.
  • Provide system-wide leadership for curriculum development, instructional material selection, and resource procurement aligned to state standards and district goals.
  • Guide, support and collaborate with Department Chairs, fostering instructional leadership and coherence across content areas and instructional levels.
  • Provide leadership for literacy program K–12 ensuring alignment with District goals and priorities and State requirements, ensuring alignment across the system and implementation with fidelity. Provide guidance and support for the District Literacy Coordinator
  • Provide leadership for immersion programs K–12, with a focus on increasing academic rigor and engagement for all students.

2. Instructional Excellence and Professional Capacity Building

  • Collaborate with district and site leaders to elevate instructional practices and ensure high-quality teaching across classrooms
  • Lead the identification and support implementation of professional development aligned to curriculum priorities, program goals, and future-ready competencies.
  • Anticipate and respond to educator needs in literacy, instruction, and professional growth.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the Tier I MTSS academic framework to ensure effective core instruction and intervention practices.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Learning, Development and Educator Effectiveness to leverage Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and teacher coaches to support curriculum and program implementation.

3. Program Oversight

  • Oversee Title I and American Indian Education programs, ensuring compliance, impact, and culturally responsive implementation.
  • Provide leadership for the integration of instructional technology to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Ensure that instructional technology initiatives are implemented effectively and supported through professional learning.
  • Provide support for supervision of district Media Specialists and oversight of Media Center operations including instructional alignment and service delivery.

4. Innovation, Future Readiness, and Experiential Learning

  • Facilitate the integration and assessment of future-ready competencies (e.g., critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy) across the curriculum.
  • Promote high-yield instructional practices and experiential learning opportunities across content areas.
  • Participate in and lead district innovation projects aligned to strategic goals.

5. System Alignment, Program Evaluation, and Improvement

  • Collaborate with the Director of Research, Analysis, and Systemic Improvement to leverage research, data, and evaluation to drive instructional improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Superintendent and Teaching and Learning team to align instructional supports with educator and system needs.
  • Serve as a member of the District’s administrative team and contribute to the development, implementation, and achievement of district goals.
  • Develop and complete mutual commitments tied directly to district strategic priorities.

6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

  1. Administrative oversight of all aspects of SUN (Students with Unique Needs), including day-to-day operations, staff management and supervision, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, ensuring special education needs are met for all students, and collaborating with leadership and stakeholders.
  2. Responsible for promoting the educational development of students with special learning needs; and under the direction of the Executive Director, to share in the duties and responsibilities of providing leadership to special education programs and services, supervision of instruction, evaluation of special education certified staff and paraprofessionals, special services contracts, and public relations.

6-8 Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute

The 6-8 Special Education Teacher Long-Term Sub will serve as a student-centered educator who is a learner and warm demander for all learners. Teacher will establish collaborative & impactful relationships with colleagues, families, and students. Teacher will understand and model best instructional practices, serve as a member of a Professional Learning Community, and ensure high levels of student learning.  Candidate must have a learner, inclusionary, and equity-focused mindset and see that their presence has an impact with students and our school environment.  Position is a balance of co-teaching and pull-out services, all based on student needs and IEP goals.
