Position Summary: The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, specially designed instruction and case management for students with disabilities. This role involves ensuring students receive a Free Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment by delivering differentiated instruction, managing IEPs, and fostering a structured, engaging classroom environment. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, families, and administrators to support the academic and personal growth of every learner.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license appropriate for the assigned subject/grade level and Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Preferred: Prior teaching experience in the assigned subject/grade level and familiarity with technology integration and various instructional strategies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • IEP Development & Case Management
    • Serve as the IEP Case Manager for an assigned caseload, ensuring all timelines for initial evaluations, annual reviews, and three-year re-evaluations are met.
    • Draft and implement student-centered, College and Career Ready IEPs that focus on high expectations.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with District policies and state/federal laws.
  • Instructional Delivery & Classroom Management
    • Provide differentiated instruction across various models, including co-teaching, inclusion, pull-out, and self-contained settings.
    • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with District and state standards, adapting and modifying the general education curriculum to meet unique learner needs.
    • Create and maintain a structured, engaging classroom environment that supports learning and sets clear behavioral expectations.
  • Assessment & Data
    • Administer and interpret formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress toward IEP goals.
    • Use data to drive instructional decisions and provide regular progress reports to parents and families.
  • Behavioral Support
    • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and develop Behavior Intervention Plans.
    • Maintain training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention to handle student behaviors requiring de-escalation.
  • Collaboration & Professionalism
    • Work with general education teachers, therapists (OT/PT/Speech), parents and administration to support student success.
    • Supervise and provide daily guidance to special education paraprofessionals.
    • Attend required staff meetings, participate in professional learning communities, and stay current with best practices in teaching.
  • Physical & Work Environment Requirements
    • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
    • Occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing of materials and classroom equipment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
    • Work primarily in a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor supervision and off-site activities.

Terms of Employment:

  • Contract Length: 192 days per school year.
  • Evaluation: Performance evaluations will be conducted by the Building Principal or Associate Principal in accordance with Hudson School District Board of Education policies.

 

Food Service Coordinator

Job Description: The Food Service Coordinator provides leadership and strategic oversight for the District’s nutrition programs. This role focuses on contract management and regulatory compliance, ensuring the contracted food service provider meets all USDA and Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) standards while maintaining fiscal responsibility and high student satisfaction. This position maintains flexibility to perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the seamless delivery of student meal services. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and Operations and is contracted full-time for 260 days per year, $80,000 salary.

Essential Functions: 

  • Serve as the primary District liaison for the contracted food service management company (FSMC).
  • Monitor the FSMC’s adherence to the contract terms, including staffing levels, meal quality, and financial guarantees.
  • Conduct regular on-site kitchen inspections and audits to ensure safety, sanitation, and “offer vs. serve” compliance.
  • Lead the annual contract renewal or RFP process in accordance with state procurement laws.
  • Manage the Annual Application for Commodities and School Nutrition Programs via the MDE CLiCS system.
  • Oversee the processing of Applications for Educational Benefits (Free/Reduced meal applications) and conduct required verification audits.
  • Ensure the District remains in “Good Standing” for Administrative Reviews (AR) conducted by MDE.
  • Maintain the District’s Local Wellness Policy and lead the triennial assessment, participates as a contributing member of the Wellness Committee.
  • Monitor the Food Service Fund (Fund 02) to ensure it remains self-sustaining.
  • Review and approve monthly FSMC invoices, ensuring all “credits, rebates, and discounts” are properly applied to the District account.
  • Prepare financial reports and annual budgets for the School Board.
  • Collaborate with Building Principals and other Program Coordinators to manage meal schedules and point-of-sale (POS) efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Health Coordinators to manage special dietary needs, allergens and special event needs.
  • Address parent concerns regarding special dietary needs, allergens, or student accounts.

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Business Administration, or a related field.  A Level 4
  • School Nutrition Association Certification is also acceptable.
  • Experience: 3+ years in school nutrition programs, specifically familiar with Minnesota-specific funding (Free
  • School Meals for Kids Act) and USDA regulations.
  • Certification: Ability to obtain/maintain Minnesota Food Manager Certification.
  • Professional Standards: Meet the minimum USDA Professional Standards for School Nutrition Program
  • Directors (typically requiring specific annual continuing education hours).
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and school nutrition software (e.g., Infinite Campus, Skyward, or NutriLink).
  • Must maintain a valid MN Driver’s License for travel between district sites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) regulations, including the “Free School Meals for Kids” Minnesota state law as well as all other applicable program requirements for Faribault Public Schools.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce complex legal contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with third-party vendors.
  • Proficiency in governmental accounting practices (Fund 02), budget forecasting, and the ability to spot discrepancies in high-volume vendor invoicing.
  • Advanced skill in the MDE CLiCS (Cyber-Linked Interactive Child Nutrition Systems) and student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus or Skyward) for state reporting.
  • Skill in managing a “liaison-based approach” relationship, balancing the district’s interests while maintaining a productive partnership with the vendor’s management team.
  • Establish effective internal and external communications for students, staff, and community purposes.
  • Serves as Faribault Public Schools’ representative to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Food and Nutrition Program.

The Licensed School Nurse (LSN) provides contracted nursing services and regional support to member school districts. The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as a contract LSN for districts, deliver direct student health services, overseeing health offices, and ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.

This position is currently structured as a 0.5 FTE role during the school year, with strong potential to expand into a full-time (189-day) position as district needs and contracted services grow.

In addition to direct service, this role includes consultation, training, and systems support to help districts strengthen health practices and emergency preparedness. This position requires regular travel between districts and the ability to work independently across multiple school sites.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   (Typical tasks but not all inclusive – major duties of the position.)

·         Provide consultation services to district and school teams, including serving as School Nurse of Record and supervising unlicensed assistive personnel.

·         Support development, review, and revision of district health policies and procedures, including medication administration, emergency response, and communicable disease protocols.

·         Provide guidance and technical assistance related to communicable disease prevention, management, and compliance.

·         Support implementation of Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERP), including AED audits, placement recommendations, and readiness assessments.

·         Facilitate emergency response drills and provide feedback to improve response systems and compliance.

·         Coordinate and deliver CPR/BLS/AED certification and general staff health and safety training.

·         Provide licensed school nurse service days, including coverage for absences or vacancies.

·         Provide direct nursing services for students requiring non-delegated care.
Participate in IEP, 504, and student support meetings as appropriate.

·         Review and monitor immunization records and ensure compliance, including ASIR reporting.

·         Connect districts with relevant healthcare providers and community resources.

·         Support districts in building internal capacity for sustainable health service delivery.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  (Physical/sensory and environmental conditions.)
This job operates in a hybrid environment with regular travel to school sites across the region. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and documentation systems. The position requires the ability to move between buildings, stand for extended periods of time during training or screenings, and lift and carry materials up to 30 pounds as needed.

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:  (Minimum essential factors of daily position.)
This position is currently a 0.5 FTE role during the school year (mid-August through mid-June), with a flexible schedule based on district needs. As contracted services expand, there is a clear opportunity for the position to grow into a full-time (189-day) role.

 

Hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and align with the school day; however, flexibility is required.  Travel within the region is expected to provide onsite services across multiple districts. Occasional evening training or events may be required.
