Performs intermediate professional work enhancing student learning through individual and small group interventions, assessments and progress monitoring, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Essential Functions:

Implement lesson plans and strategy development;

Provide direct teaching instruction to identified Multilingual Learners, including newcomer students, to improve academic achievement in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as cultural orientation;

Collaborate with general education teachers to enhance lesson plans and select appropriate educational materials and activities that help Multilingual Learners meet curriculum objectives aligned with district curriculum and state outcomes;

Coordinate and/or deliver training as needed in regards to “best practices” to support English Language Development (ELD) for general education teachers;

Communicate the needs of identified Multilingual Learners to general education teachers to ensure student success;

Complete diagnostic assessments/screenings on identified students; monitor student performance, progress and behavior on a regular basis; maintain a classroom conducive to learning; reinforce information previously presented in the classroom; supervise students during the school day per established schedule.

Interpret results of diagnostic screening/assessments; implement appropriate interventions based on diagnostics; establish process monitoring groups and accurately enter and interpret data; regularly monitor students’ progress using Grade Outcome Measurements; assist staff in intervention procedures, data entry and provide instruction as necessary; maintain accurate attendance records, student progress, and direct behavior rating scale monitoring for each student; submit year-end data report as directed by supervisor.

Participate in internal and external meetings, open houses and special events; attend professional development activities and identify areas of growth and development; communicate with Teachers on a regular basis; attend parent and/or student conferences; Maintain a safe environment for students.

Must hold a valid secondary teaching license, 9 – 12 FACS license in the State of Minnesota or ability to get a FACS license waiver.

ISD #756 is a small rural school district in SE Minnesota. We serve approximately 900 students Pre-K – 12. Deliver classroom instruction; implement lesson plans on instructional units; develop and determine methods, approaches and instructional units; maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

Assess and evaluate student performance against lesson plans; determine the need for re-instruction or need for new approach; reinforce information previously taught in the classroom; determine grades for reporting purposes; monitor student performance and behaviors and determine how to approach bad behaviors.

Develop and plan instructional activities; develop and implement lesson plans personalized for individual student needs; assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs); implement student assessments and evaluate results; determine assessment process for instructional units; research topics and materials designed to improve instructional presentations.

Prepare for substitute teachers; communicate with parents and participate in parent/student conferences; participate and prepare for peer evaluation process.

Supervise students during the school day according to the established building schedule; provide indirect supervision during regular school days.

Collaborate with staff in evaluating individual student issues and approaches to instructional units; evaluate new teaching technologies and/or procedures.

Participate in meetings (building staff meetings, departmental meetings, grade level meetings, staff development, open house/orientation) as necessary or required; attend professional development activities.

Preference for a license to teach College Spanish classes
