Provide Social/Emotional Support to HAP Students/Families and Staff Familiar with building and community resources Guiding and bridging students/families to other support resources Crisis intervention and problem solving with students Mediation Developing student skills/insight around experiences and outcomes Using coaching/mentoring methodologies to develop strong relationships with all students and as a means to build capacity in under-achieving students Teaching coping and code switching skills to students Doing parent outreach to develop working relationships with families and to provide support, encouragement and problem-solving around student issues B. Program Leadership Building and communicating cohesive program philosophy and practices for staff, students and families Liaison between the program, HHS staff, students and administration Encouraging innovation and best practices as it relates to the needs of our students Facilitating program development and change Supporting ongoing classroom instruction by visiting and observing classroom instruction and student learning Facilitating weekly HAP department meetings and representing HAP in bi-weekly Department Leaders meetings Maintaining communication with other youth service providers (e.g. W-Alt, Hennepin County, etc.) Advocating for the academic and social/emotional needs of HAP students Prepare and present Annual Report to Hopkins School Board? C. Organizational Responsibilities Developing the HAP master schedule Establishing application, orientation and other related enrollment procedures Setting up and adjusting student schedules as necessary Holding parent/student meetings when students are enrolled to review credits, establish class schedules, develop continuous learning plans, establish program norms and explain HAP grading and credit policies Assisting all students to develop yearly schedules that reflect a plan to meet graduation requirements in a timely fashion Maintaining and coordinating HAP’s internal grading, credit and attendance systems Reviewing daily attendance records and following up with students who have had unexcused absences from classes Reviewing early term, mid-term, and end of term grades as a means to evaluate and make necessary interventions around student learning Attending suspension and/or re-entry meetings of HAP students suspended from school Oversee other internal HAP operations as needed (e.g. parent conferences, field trips, Graduation Picnic and other HAP special events, etc.) Assisting students/families with post-secondary planning including applying to colleges and FAFSA Serving as liaison to HTC for HAP students, which includes attending quarterly meetings.
