New Dominion School provides on-site education at Gerard Academy, for children in grades K-12 who are struggling with academic, emotional, and/or behavioral barriers. The school also provides an educational experience for students from surrounding communities who are not successful in their current school districts. Responsibilities will include providing educational assistance to students in the areas of instruction, preparation of classroom materials, records management, student supervision and mentorship while ensuring student safety. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assumes responsibility for budget development, control and long-range financial planning. Projects district revenue and submits the district tax levy to the Board for approval and to the county and MDE. Manages the district debt including the OPEB Trust Fund. Develops and administers a program for purchasing contract service, supplies and equipment. Assists in the development of a facility expansion and maintenance program. Supervises facility planning, project development and construction projects. Supervises, through the director of buildings and grounds, the district custodial staff and the district maintenance program. Administers, through the food services director, the food service program. Establishes and supervises a program of accounting and reporting for the financial affairs of the school district. Manages the real estate and insurance programs including; Self-funded health care Dental Long term disability Group life insurance Worker’s Compensation Chairs the District Insurance Committee. Supervises the development of required financial reports as required for all funds. Recommend policies, regulations and administrative procedures. Completes the district’s annual audit. Consults with the superintendent and other personnel on questions relating to the district’s business affairs. Prepares and submits to the school board, reports and other documents as required. Supervises the district business office staff including payroll, benefits, accounting, purchasing, and accounts receivable. Supervises the district transportation services. Supervises the student information staff and completes district enrollment projections. Supervises the district data management staff. Serves as a district representative for negotiations with teachers, principals, custodians, food service, secretarial staff, technology staff, Kid’s Club, and paraprofessionals. Organizes, coordinates, and supervises the district’s emergency response processes. Chairs the Safety and Security Committee. Works with the Superintendent on legislative matter for the district. Serves on professional organizations committees as a district representative. Essential Functions: Assists classroom teacher(s) by performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives. Assists in the maintenance of various records and files. Adapts instructional materials, equipment or strategies, as directed by the teacher or therapist, to accomplish instructional objectives and students needs. Provides programmed practice activities and repetitions, as developed by teacher or therapist when necessary. Works with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by teacher and make progress on Individualized Education Program goals. Assists with developing appropriate social skills and behavior; assists in managing/charting behavior. Escorts students to special classes and therapy; provides supervision in school areas and at school related activities off site. Collaborates with related service personnel. Assists with daily living skills which may include, but not limited to: dressing, undressing for PE, toileting, eating and hygiene. Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
