Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program Coordinator & Instructor
Position Purpose:
The Adult Basic Education Program Coordinator is responsible for providing SCRED-wide leadership and strategic focus in planning, promoting, coordinating, evaluating, and ensuring a sustainable Adult Basic Education Program. This position develops working relationships with community organizations and facilities, post-secondary institutions, state agencies, workforce centers, Metro East ABE Consortium, and the Chisago and Pine County Jails to help learners meet the objectives of the Adult Basic Education program. ABE programming includes adult basic skills, GED preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), Functional Workforce literacy, and other programs based on student need.

Learner Teacher and .5 TOSA – EL Support and Development

The ELL teacher and EL TOSA is responsible for working with EL students in the classroom setting and implementing the continuous improvement process for the EL program, working with the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning to administer the assigned budgets, leading the work of English Learner teacher and development and delivering system staff development to teachers and non-teaching personnel to improve services to EL students with the support of Teaching & Learning department.
Job description
● Use state standards to craft a rigorous, objective-driven program
● Tailor lessons to students, scaffold and differentiate instruction based on unique learning styles and needs to ensure all students are challenged and engaged
●Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to continuously build and grow the Bilingual Education program
● Support EL teachers in assessments and placement of students to support student learning.
● Learn and utilize specialized approaches for delivering curriculum to Emerging Bilingual students
● Work with the Teaching and Learning Coordinator to develop standards-aligned, measurable, ambitious goals that will increase opportunities for student achievement, as well as ways to assess and track progress toward said goals
● Coordinate and support EL programming across the district.
● Attend school-wide/district-wide meetings and professional development sessions to stay up-to-date on the academic program, continuously improve practice, and support progress toward the school district’s mission and strategic plan.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree or higher, Master’s preferred
● Must hold a current ELL/ESL license in the state of Minnesota or be able to obtain one
● Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students preferred
● Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
● Demonstrate knowledge or willingness to learn innovative teaching methods
● Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a team
● Be dedicated to doing whatever it takes to support all students in achieving academic success
● Demonstrate alignment with the educational philosophy and core beliefs of Centennial Public Schools.
This is a 10-month position, from August to June. The typical work day is teacher work hours, 183 Days with occasional extended times to accommodate staff meetings, learning team meetings, and schoolwide events.
WAGES:
Consistent with the current Teachers’ Master Agreement.
