Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a part-time Innovation Lab teacher in the Lower School, serving students in grades 3 and 5. This position is to cover a maternity leave (October – December 2023).

Innovation Lab is a unique learning space where tenacious thinkers can combine their imagination and classroom resources to design innovative solutions to authentic problems, developing 21st Century thinking skills to meet the world’s changing demands. This major units of study in this class are:

Position is full-time, long term substitute based at O.H Anderson Elementary.  Salary is based on the teacher contract.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a valid MN Elementary Education License or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in school setting and/or previous experience working with elementary students
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with students, colleagues, and community
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents and staff

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on regular basis on student progress
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings or functions
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
