ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ALTERNATIVE LEARNING

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Alternative Learning
DIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Director of Alternative Learning
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed by the State of Minnesota as an administrator.
A minimum of one (1) year of recent successful educational leadership experience is required. Recent successful experience at the level of assistant principal, assistant director or higher is preferred.
Proven strong skills in interpersonal communications required.
Demonstrated skills in any of the following areas preferred: collaborative decision making, supervision, evaluation, curriculum development, planning and motivation.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Proficient with technology and online platforms (Google, SpEd Forms, Infinite Campus, Outlook, Schoology, etc.)
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
• In conjunction with the Director of Alternative Learning, manage student supervision issues, serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues, enforce behavior expectations, and proactively process student discipline issues.
• Facilitate student reentry meetings, and effectively work with parents and other CALC and Pines School staff to implement individual student behavior plans.
• Assist in the supervision of school facilities. (i.e. buildings & grounds, select evening events, graduation, prom, homecoming etc.)
• Work with administration to evaluate overall effectiveness of students support services, curriculum, overall processes of the alternative programs.
• Support administration in maintaining the CALC and Pines School’s safety & security efforts.
• Participate in CALC and Pines School’s support committees like administration meeting, Admin/Support Service meetings, Student Assistance Team, Child Study, Safety Team, MTSS Team etc.
• Facilitate staff meetings as needed and plan with the Director.
• Communicate with students, staff and families.
• Assist the Director of Alternative Learning in the evaluation of CALC and Pines School staff.
• Assist in facilitating the daily operations of the CALC and Pines School.
• Assist in the management of student attendance, truancy issues, and any associated meetings.
• Work with the Director to plan and support professional development.
• Assist in providing supervision to staff as assigned by Director of Alternative Learning.
• Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/REQUIREMENTS:
A. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works with teachers and administrators across the district on professional development and curriculum. Duties include presenting to administration, staff and school board, as needed.
B. Physicals Demands: The employee will need the ability to perform the following actions continuously: sitting, walking, using hands dexterously, talking, hearing. The employee will perform the following actions occasionally: lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, reaching, stooping, standing, bending, crouching, walking.
C. Work Hours and Schedules:
• Primarily daytime hours
• Occasional evenings
• 12-month position
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12-month position beginning August 1, 2023.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary range will be $108,000-$112,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. This contract has a competitive paid benefits including – but not limited to – group insurance coverage, vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
