Rochester Public Schools is hiring a Director of Academics – Elementary Education to lead implementation of a comprehensive system of professional development, curriculum, instruction, and assessment for elementary schools.  This position fills a critical leadership role for the district while supervising a capable team of implementation specialists and instructional coaches.  In a typical day, this person might lead a PD session for a group of teachers, liaise with principals on curriculum needs, meet with a workgroup about evaluating and selecting curriculum, and assist a group of teachers with making meaningful decisions based on assessment results.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs the planning and implementation of professional development opportunities for instructional staff
  • Provide strong, direct instructional leadership and lead change in the schools and the district.
  • Ability to facilitate the development, revision, and coordinates efforts for improved learning outcomes and staff development
  • Develops positive relationships and initiates activities to maximize effective planning, programming, and cooperation among schools, district staff, the community at large, and institutions of higher education.
  • Provides vision, direction, management and oversight for all aspects of the elementary and early childhood programs, including goals; budgets; curriculum; student assessment; program evaluation; data collection and analysis; school improvement plans; compliance; and the selection, allocation, development and supervision of personnel.
  • Collaborates with District Cabinet members, Principals, Teachers and district staff.
  • Maintains current knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices that support, enhance program effectiveness, and results in better learning outcome
  • Plans, organizes, leads and implements changes relating to curriculum, instructions, professional development and assessment.
  • Responds to parent or staff concerns as needed to facilitate problem solving
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the school district’s strategic plan;
  • Ability to inform and collaborate with school administrators based on research;
  • Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor and assess new and/or current school-based programs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community stakeholders, administrators, teachers, and staff.
  • Provides direct supervision of instructional coaches and other related staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Early Childhood Family Education Teacher

Caseload:  Approximately 18-22 students, Federal Setting 1-2

Other:  Daily prep (1 period) and case management (1 period) time each day

School psychologist/department lead at the school
On-site mental health therapist and mental health practitioner (CTSS)

Position is full-time, part of the teacher bargaining unit.  Salary and benefits part of the Master Agreement.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; Special Education ASD or ABS teaching license or able to obtain appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Preferred Experience:

Ability to teach students with significant needs in the areas of social, emotional, behavioral and academic development utilizing a progression of interventions.

The ideal candidate should be passionate about creating a dynamic and engaging program environment that provides direct instruction to a variety of learning needs for students who receive services under ASD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of assigned students with disabilities through formal and informal assessments
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on a regular basis on student progress
  • Write IEP’s (Individual Educational Plans) and Due Process reports in accordance to MDE regulations
  • Lead and facilitate IEP meetings
  • Create and implement behavior intervention plans
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings
  • Provide program guidance to paraprofessionals
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

School Psychologist/Building Lead

Date of Availability: 2023-2024

Position is full-time, for the 2023-2024 school year and part of the teacher bargaining unit and based at OH Anderson Elementary School.  Salary and benefits part of the Master Agreement.

Job Summary:

Mahtomedi Public Schools is seeking a talented School Psychologist to join our team at OH Anderson elementary school. Candidates with leadership experience or potential are preferred as this position also serves as the building/department lead and works closely with the building principals and the Director of Student Support Services. An additional stipend is provided for performing building lead responsibilities. This position typically has 30 evaluations per year.  

Professional Support:

  • Regular connection and collaboration with other district school psychologists
  • Support and consultation from the building and district administrative team
  • Weekly Special Education Leadership Team meetings with Director of Student Support Services
  • Opportunities to attend professional development and conferences
  • New staff mentorship program, including time to meet regularly with a mentor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts psychological assessments, functional behavioral analysis
  • Facilitates communication between teachers, administrators, parents and students to find solutions to academic, behavioral, and mental health problems
  • Provides psychological counseling based on IEP goals and objectives
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of academic and behavioral management programs being used; disseminates research for use in evaluations and programs
  • Provide leadership to staff and administration in the areas of Multi-Tier Systems of support (MTSS)
  • Facilitate data-team (screening/progress monitoring) and child-study team (individual problem-solving) meetings
  • Building’s contact person for communication between buildings or programs
  • Serve as knowledgeable resource for team members regarding due process rules and procedures
  • Collaborate with building administration to identify building specific special education needs and plan to address these needs
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid Minnesota license as a secondary school principal or be in the process of completing the requirements for a license.
A minimum of one (1) year of recent successful educational leadership experience is required.
Recent successful experience at the level of assistant principal or higher is preferred.
Proven strong skills in inter-personal communications required.
Demonstrated skills in any of the following areas preferred: collaborative decision making, supervision, evaluation, curriculum development, planning and motivation.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Start Date: July 1, 2023
Salary is consistent with the current principals’ master agreement.
