CAPS Care Teacher, Assistant and Aide

Caledonia Area Public Schools is looking for a full-time toddler teacher, assistant teachers, and aides for our child care center, CAPS Care. All positions must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment. Discount on child care for CAPS Care staff members. Benefits if working more than 30 hours per week. Benefits include health, life, long-term disability, personal, sick and vacation days.

Teacher requirements:

Must meet the requirements below OR be willing to work toward a degree or CDA.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
An Associate’s degree in childhood development required or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, AND
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a child care setting, preferred.
Hourly pay range: $16.07 – $20.41 depending on experience.

Assistant Teacher requirements: 

Must meet the requirements below OR be willing to work toward required credits.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma required, 2,080 hours as an aide or student intern, and 12 quarter hours of Child Development classes.
Minimum 2 years experience working in a childcare setting, preferred.
Hourly pay range: $15.33 – $19.17 depending on experience.

Aide requirements:

Must be at least 16 years of age
Hourly pay range: $14.66 – $18.31 depending on experience.

Job Overview:

The Director of Educational Programs is a key leadership role within the school district, responsible for overseeing a wide range of educational programs and initiatives that promote equity, opportunity, and academic success for all students. This position specifically focuses on English language programming, Spanish Immersion, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Achievement and Integration programming, and serves as a primary advocate for equity and opportunity in education. The Director of Educational Programs collaborates with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives that support diverse learners and foster inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and evaluate English language programming to support the language acquisition and academic success of English language learners (ELLs).
Oversee the Spanish Immersion program, ensuring high-quality instruction, appropriate resources, and continuous improvement to meet the needs of students in bilingual education.
Provide leadership and guidance to teachers and staff in delivering effective instructional strategies and support services for ELLs and Spanish Immersion students, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Collaborate with curriculum specialists and instructional leaders to align English language programming, Spanish Immersion, and other programs with district goals, standards, and best practices.
Oversee the implementation of the AVID program, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to develop academic and college-readiness skills, regardless of their language background.
Provide professional development and coaching to educators on AVID instructional strategies, including inquiry-based teaching, collaboration, and organization techniques.
Collaborate with administrators and teachers to implement Achievement and Integration programming, ensuring equitable access to resources, opportunities, and support services for all students.
Develop and implement initiatives to foster equity and opportunity in education, addressing achievement gaps and ensuring equal access to educational resources and opportunities for all students, including ELLs and Spanish Immersion students.
Collaborate with community organizations, families, and stakeholders to create partnerships and resources that support equity and opportunity initiatives.
Provide guidance and support to district staff on culturally responsive practices, multicultural education, and strategies for promoting an inclusive and supportive school climate for diverse learners.
Collaborate with district leaders to develop policies and procedures that promote equity, inclusion, and access to educational opportunities for all students, including those in English language programming, Spanish Immersion, and other programs.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives, using data and evidence-based practices to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
Stay updated on research, legislation, and best practices related to English language programming, Spanish Immersion, AVID, Achievement and Integration programming, and equity and opportunity in education.

Classified Staff – Receptionist/Administrative Assistant (185 Days)

Responsibilities

  • Receptionist – Serve as a main point of contact for school community, greet visitors, substitute teachers, guest teachers, volunteers, etc.
  • Assist with attendance procedures, data entry and communication for high school campus, maintaining attendance records and reports, following-up with unresolved attendance and tardy issue, and disseminating required communications in collaboration with administration.
  • Collect information and prepare written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Process information, documents, and materials for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
  • Communicate with students, teachers, parents, staff, etc. for the purpose of resolving situations and coordinating activities and processes.
  • Provide support services to school administration.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor, particularly on non-student contact days.

Classified Staff – Facilities Specialist (Full-time/12 Months)

Job Summary

  • Take “ownership” of the campus facilities by prioritizing and addressing all aspects of facility maintenance, school safety, and cleanliness and any issues that arise in a manner consistent with job requirements.
  • Assist and support school staff in a manner that enhances their roles and responsibilities.
  • Attend to facilities emergencies, as needed, outside the normal school hours.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge regarding methods of cleaning, safety practices and procedures, and health standards and hazards within an educational setting.
  • Assists with general cleaning and maintenance of the school and performs emergency cleaning, as needed. Responds to immediate safety issues to maintain a functioning educational environment.
  • Cleans windows and outdoor space in vicinity of main entrance.
  • Maintains and may make minor repairs to custodial equipment.
  • Maintains and may repair school fixtures and furniture. Assembles furniture.
  • Does set up and tear down in school spaces for events or programs.
  • Assists in maintaining security of school and adjacent spaces (e.g. skyways, sidewalks, etc.), which may include locking and unlocking spaces, performing weekend and holiday checks, as needed, and ensuring all equipment (door locks and mechanisms, alarms, security cameras, etc.) are in good working order.
  • Performs routine checks and documents emergency lights, emergency equipment, exits, and fire extinguishers and all other safety equipment are in good working order.
  • Schedules and coordinates the completion of annual inspections per state, county, and city regulations.
  • Stocks supply shelves and distributes supplies, as requested. Verifies, documents, and signs for incoming shipments/inventory.
  • Assists school personnel with work requests and errands related to building maintenance and operations.
  • Maintains manual and electronic documents, files, and records (inspection records, work orders and requisitions, supplies, chemical storage, crisis management data, security controls, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and ensuring an up-to-date reference.
  • As appropriate, solicits and analyzes proposals from contractors to perform various repairs and special maintenance.
  • Contacts and works with contractors when issues arise and must be immediately addressed.
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery, and power equipment used in performing essential functions.
  • Plans, schedules, and performs, as needed and if qualified, preventative, and ongoing maintenance tasks of building systems to ensure equipment is in proper working condition. Contacts service providers when the scope of work or repair exceeds routine tasks.
  • Estimates the time and materials costs of proposed projects for the purpose of informing budgeting, planning, and accountability of actual project costs.
  • Prepares and maintains annual budget and inventory for equipment and supplies.
