Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator

General Definition of Work:
The Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator will coordinate 6-Adult curriculum and instructional program development, including the implementation of the MN Academic Standards in order to provide a high-quality and equitable education for all students.  The Coordinator will also support the design and delivery of a 6-adult academic multi-tiered system of support, including coordination of Talent Development and Intervention services as part of the MTSS framework utilizing resources including but not limited to AVID, Mentor/Mentee programs and Grown Your Own programs. Position is full-time for 240 days per year.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides training and support to administrators, teachers, and leadership teams to facilitate implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports at the district and secondary school levels.
  • Provide leadership in proposed and on-going curriculum development projects for all secondary  grades; guide the development, implementation and assessment of the district’s curriculum.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the school staff in the horizontal and vertical articulation of the curriculum among and  between grade levels, meet frequently and/or facilitate staff meetings as needed at the each level to ensure curriculum  delivery methods and to interpret and help implement the districts’ curriculum.
  • Assist in the planning and coordinating of staff development programs and coaching opportunities within each secondary grade level in all curriculum areas on how to enhance student’s literacy and math skills; provide constructive feedback to instructional staff.
  • Assist with program and instruction evaluation based on formative assessment analysis; collaborate with staff on instructional needs during PLC’s and/or planning time, conduct training for teachers related to achievement and integration and all teaching and learning areas.
  • Coordinate district-wide mentor/mentee program; plan, facilitate, engage  and provide support to all instructional staff within their probationary period.
  • Serves as District Achievement and Integration Coordinator focusing on training and supporting district-wide strategies; develop plan and maintain budget in collaboration with community education director.
  • Coordinate district-wide AVID programming, training, resources and mentoring.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid elementary education- K-6 teaching license in the State of Minnesota.
Teachers must be able to demonstrate the highest commitment to student achievement and effective development.
Teachers must have the willingness to adapt to becoming part of a total school effort in educating our students.
Teachers must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, students and parents in providing and promoting positive relationships.
Teachers must be of the highest integrity with a strong commitment to modeling excellence in all aspects of the teacher/student/parent relationships.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

WAGES:
Candidates will be placed on the teacher contract and will receive benefits according to the CEA contract.

Collaborate with building administration and special education team to implement effective positive behavioral management strategies as well as conflict mediation and de-escalation strategies
