C.E. Jacobson Elementary is looking for a full-time 6th Grade Teacher with a focus in science and social studies for the 2023-24 school year. Our 5th and 6th grade students’ function in a middle-school-style model and this teacher will spend 85% of their time teaching a specific content area as well as general instructional support for all content areas.

The ability to build relationships with students, colleagues, and the community will be imperative. Hours will be typical school days, aligned with the Teachers Master Contract.

Elementary Interventionist

CE Jacobson Elementary School is seeking a full time 1.0 FTE academic interventionist – certified elementary teacher (reading and math) for the 2023-24 school year. The purpose is to provide instruction to assist students who need additional academic support to succeed in the general education environment. This position is part of our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to provide evidence-based academic interventions. The ability to handle data accurately and efficiently is a must. This position will present outcomes monthly to all stakeholder groups and will provide academic interventions for students in grades K-6 who are identified as high risk.

The teacher is a member of an interdisciplinary team and works collaboratively with colleagues to make decisions about team programming and supporting students through intervention and enrichment.

Early Childhood Special Education (Birth-to-3) Teacher

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education (Birth-to-3) Teacher to serve Birth-to-3 children and their families in Southeast Minnesota.

Essential Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Provide parent coaching to caregivers as specified within each child’s Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP),
  • Act as service coordinator and works cooperatively with special education personnel, families and other service providers.
  • Coordinate related services (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech/language) as necessary to identified children on IFSP’s and families.
  • Develop Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP’s).
  • Screen, assess, and/or evaluate infants and toddlers referred for potential Early Childhood Special Education services.
  • Assists, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, in making special education placement decisions and developing outcomes and instructional objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain an efficient schedule for delivery of all responsibilities in early intervention.
  • Assure compliance with special education procedural requirements and due process timelines.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by the supervisor.

Competencies:

  • Must be able to work in team decision-making situations
  • Must communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
  • Must possess ability to problem-solve.
  • Must possess ability to lead teams and coordinate with others.

Travel Requirements:    Travel will occur between birth-3 family homes and/or daycare centers.

Qualifications:

  • Minnesota licensure as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Experience as a B-3 and/or ECSE 3-5 Teacher preferred
  • Experience in coordinating early childhood services for children with disabilities and their families preferred
  • Experience with public health and social service organizations preferred
  • Experience working in a school or education setting is preferred but not required
  • Experience completing Part C Special Education Evaluations preferred

Working Conditions: Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.  Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 3 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has one Setting IV Behavior Program that provides programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services.
