Recreation Coordinator- Middle School, Sports, and Aquatics

POSITION: Recreation Coordinator- Middle School, Sports, and Aquatics

DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS:
This position will coordinate lifelong learning activities for a variety of ages year-round in the Centennial School District, so that community needs for education and involvement are met. Key program areas assigned will include planning for Middle School Sports, Community Aquatics, Summer Sports and Recreation and Special Events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate overall planning and scheduling of classes and activities so that a well-balanced program with a variety of offerings is available throughout ISD 12.
• Develop new opportunities for targeted age groups so that unmet needs, resident requests, and new ideas can be addressed.
• Design, implement, schedule and help deliver in the school district pool facility an outside of the school day aquatics program.
• Recruit, interview, hire, provide leadership, train, evaluate and supervise pool staff and instructors, and other staff to provide high quality and organized programs.
• Maintain standards and safety as set forth the Red Cross
• Coordinate and collaborate with other Community Education Coordinators and other
program planning staff to ensure a balanced program is offered for all audiences.
• Plan and monitor budgets for classes and activities so that resources are maximized and
programs meet their financial targets.
• Work with the Community Education Director and other staff to coordinate the
production of marketing materials and opportunities to ensure that activities are promoted
to the community in a timely and effective manner.

QUALIFICAITONS:
• Prefer Bachelors Degree in Community Education, Recreation or similar field.
• Prefer a minimum of 3 years event and/or program planning.
• Training or experience to address various learning styles of youth and adult learners.
• Proficient in the use of technology for managing information and marketing activities.
• Leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.
• Creativity and the ability to apply it in a variety of venues.
• Strong organizational skills.
• The ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks.
• Flexibility and availability to work a varied schedule as necessary to observe programs or
participate in meetings or events. Hours will include evenings and weekends.
• Required: Red Cross lifeguard certified or able to obtain via training, prefer Red Cross
Water Safety Instructor and lifeguard instructor certification as well.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month individual contract, 40 hours per week beginning around April 3, 2023

WAGES:
Salary is $30.00/hr-$32.00/hr commensurate with experience and qualifications. A competitive
benefits package including – but not limited to – group insurance coverage, sick leave, personal
leave, vacation and holidays.

Reading Intervention Long Term Substitute

Total FTE: 5 hours a day

Essential Functions:

Deliver classroom instruction; implement lesson plans on instructional units; develop and determine methods, approaches and instructional units; maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

Assess and evaluate student performance against lesson plans; determine the need for re-instruction or need for new approach; reinforce information previously taught in the classroom; determine grades for reporting purposes; monitor student performance and behaviors and determine how to approach bad behaviors.

Develop and plan instructional activities; develop and implement lesson plans personalized for individual student needs; assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs); implement student assessments and evaluate results; determine assessment process for instructional units; research topics and materials designed to improve instructional presentations.

Prepare for substitute teachers; communicate with parents and participate in parent/student conferences; participate and prepare for peer evaluation process.

Supervise students during the school day according to the established building schedule; provide indirect supervision during regular school days.

Collaborate with staff in evaluating individual student issues and approaches to instructional units; evaluate new teaching technologies and/or procedures.

Participate in meetings (building staff meetings, departmental meetings, grade level meetings, staff development, open house/orientation) as necessary or required; attend professional development activities.

Coordinator of After School Students Clubs

Summary:  Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Community

Education and CMS Principal, the employee, develops, evaluates, organizes, and administers events and programming. The employee will supervise and train staff, develop and evaluate programs, coordinate equipment needs, oversee Centennial Middle School facilities and equipment and maintain positive public relations.

Duties:

●       Manages, coordinates, plans, and supervises Centennial Middle School after-school clubs.

●       Schedules, supervises, evaluates, recruits, and trains staff on operations, procedures, & program policies.

●       Oversee the organization of transportation as needed

●       Creates and evaluates programming based on CMS student needs while maintaining current trends.

●       Secures space at CMS for clubs.

●       Interacts with parents concerning disciplinary and other issues.

●       Provides excellent customer service and responds to inquiries and complaints.

●       In attendance at CMS from 3 pm to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  Additional hours might be required due to programming needs.

●       Develop and maintain positive public relations

●       Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

●       Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail is essential, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects, and set and reevaluate priorities.

●       Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate and coordinate the work of others.

●       Ability to analyze complex situations or needs and make competent decisions.

●       Proven team leader with demonstrated ability to develop, deploy and implement team objectives

●       Ability to communicate effectively with parents, school staff, administration staff, and the public.

●       Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and moderate experience working in youth activities or other student programming or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The stipend would be $7,287 per semester/ $3,643 per quarter prorated to the start date.

 

The position would start ASAP, and the position would end on May 31, 2023.

Social Studies Teacher – (2023-2024 School Year)
