  • Approximately: 1/16/2023 – 4/10/2023

Job Summary:

  • Liaison with students, parents, school staff, and community agencies
  • Analyzes and interprets information for recommendations regarding needs and services
  • Participates in Child Study Teams
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers identifying special needs services for youth
  • Provides social work services to students and parents
  • Participates as a resource person for in-service training and planning
  • Participates in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process as required
  • Makes referral to public or private agencies with appropriate follow-up
  • Provides therapeutic & rehabilitative mental health services in conjunction with students on IEPs
  • Completes mental health assessments for special education students

Qualifications:

  • Must hold appropriate Minnesota teaching license as a Licensed School Social Worker (licensed by the Board of Social Work and the Minnesota Board of Teaching)
  • Previous experience preferred
  • Possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Candidates preferred to have one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college / university and completed 2000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering clinical services to treat mental illness or children with emotional disturbances
    • Enrolled in a Social Work Master’s program from an accredited college / university
    • Have an MSW from an accredited college/university
    • LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker)

Director of Communications and Community Relations

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop, direct and implement communications strategies for South Washington County School District ensuring that all district communication, marketing and public relations are cohesive, consistent and effective in supporting the district’s mission.  Serve as the internal coordinator of the District’s annual strategic planning process.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.   Create and execute a comprehensive, strategic and integrated internal and external communication plan to ensure consistency of district communications.
2.   Assist Superintendent with communication and organizational needs in major district initiatives.
3.   Assist Superintendent in interpreting, implementing and reporting School Board actions by serving on leadership team, attending School Board meetings and providing public relations consultation for decision-makers.
4.   Coordinate, organize and support the work of district leaders and action planning team efforts to ensure annual review of the District’s Strategic Plan is conducted, while promoting ongoing efforts of the district’s strategic objectives, values and overall mission.
5.   Supervise and manage the Communication Department, which includes preparing and monitoring budgets, supervising and evaluating staff, developing and implementing department goals and objectives, and programming for district’s educational cable access channel.
6.   Serve as the key spokesperson for the district and provide support to district leaders in issues involving media relations.
7.   Develop and implement activities and services, through a marketing effort, that will enhance the school district’s image in the community.
8.   Support district-wide community engagement efforts and serve as a community liaison through local organizations.
9.   Serve as a legislative liaison through the efforts of the Association of Metropolitan School Districts and District 833 School Communicators.
10. Provide leadership for employee recognition and community outreach activities
11. Manage production of all major school district publications.
12. Other duties as assigned.
