The Hudson School District is looking for an individual to serve as a part-time Orientation/Mobility Specialist. The Orientation/ Mobility Specialist shall work closely with the Teacher of the Visually Impaired, and other IEP team members (especially family members) to develop and implement an instructional plan for children with blindness and visual impairments that leads to the highest level of independence for which the student has potential. Instruction typically occurs across various learning environments for the purposes of generalization of skills.
The ideal candidate would possess a Wisconsin DPI license #826, Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred in program area, three years’ experience in the program area, skills in the evaluation and program development for instruction, and in implementation of instructional strategies for students of all ages and skill levels.

Performance Responsibilities:
• Provide direct instructional services and support
• Willing to share skill set with various stake-holders for the purposes of consistent instruction across all areas, at all times
• Provide instructional materials and training to students and stake-holders for appropriate use • Work with building teachers to ensure techniques are supported appropriately
• Be flexible with lesson plans in order to accommodate unexpected learning opportunities
Indirect services and support:
• Locate and order materials
• Staff in-service regarding student needs
• Consult with building staff, family members with regard to suggestions, concerns, and strategies and inform stake-holders of resources available
• Involve community members, business, etc. in blindness awareness activities
• Duties as related to IEP team member including attending meetings (formal/informal) and responding to calls, email, etc.
