Job summary:
Provides support and instruction to parents, guardians, and families with children birth-5 years through home visits and the Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) setting.  Creates learning opportunities that are culturally responsive to strengthen families and support healthy growth and development.  Plans and facilitates classes on child development and parenting with a balance of education and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

· Ensures parenting education is accommodating and suitable to ALL families and aligns with the Brooklyn Center Community School District mission, vision, and values.

· Build rapport and relationships with parents/families.

· Lead and facilitate parenting education groups/activities.

· Plan and implement family-focused integrated curriculum using the Parent Education Frameworks Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.

· Provides/offers support, strategies, and resources to promote the development and strengthening of parenting attitudes, knowledge, and skills.

· Model and teach parents/families effective strategies in relating to, and teaching, their children.

· Cooperatively team with the early learning program staff to provide family education.

· Provide instructional leadership to other support staff and classroom volunteers within the classroom.

· Coordinate and host home visits and or community-setting visits.

· Provide outreach and promote ECFE programs to underrepresented families.

· Perform a variety of marketing and outreach tasks, such as making connections and building relationships with programs/services and other professionals who work with families, promoting parenting and family engagement throughout the program/district/community.

· Attends meetings and training sessions as required.

· Other duties as assigned.

Position Details: .5 FTE Parent Educator, 4 hours a day / 193 workdays

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Must hold a valid Minnesota Parent Educator license.

· Previous experience working with diverse populations and urban school settings is preferred.

Preschool Teacher

Job Summary: Performs difficult professional work planning and implementing a program to teach young children, motivating students to achieve maximum potential and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Early Learning. Continuous supervision is exercised over Educational Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Support District Strategic Plan and District Early Learning Program Philosophy

· Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate, center-based classroom environment for PreK students

· Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family

· Develop and implement rigorous, integrated, developmentally appropriate and comprehensive curriculum plans that promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of preschool children

· Supervises students to ensure a safe, supportive, culturally responsive, equitable, and welcoming learning environment

· Monitors, advises, coaches, and supports student behavior management to ensure a safe, supportive, welcoming learning environment

· Adapts teaching materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students

· Integrate MN Early Learning Standards (ECIPs) into instructional plans

· Work with ECSE staff to coordinate implementation of individual programs for students with special needs

· Implement established PreK classroom behavior guidelines

· Assess and monitor children’s progress, maintain appropriate records; prepare progress reports

· Communicate with parents regarding children’s development

· Plan and implement parent engagement opportunities

· Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected professional books and instructional materials

· Attend meetings, workshops, in-services, special events and training as required

· Participate in curriculum development programs and faculty committees as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

· MN Teaching Licensure Early Childhood or Pre-Primary

· Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.

· Knowledge of effective PreK literacy teaching strategies

· Demonstrated ability to engage families as collaborators in the academic and social development of students, and cultural competence in drawing upon the assets of children and families to shape curriculum and instruction

· Demonstrated effective, proactive, and student-centered classroom management strategies.

Description:
The Brooklyn Center Community Schools (BCCS) District is seeking applicants to join our Special Education Assistant team this summer! We are developing an inclusive ESY program that ensures students with disabilities have additional access to general education summer programs and a well-rounded summer experience!

With the supervision of licensed staff, The Special Education EA will assist with the implementation of a comprehensive educational program for students in an inclusionary setting, instructing or delivering services to students, assisting classroom teachers by working with individual students or small groups with related work as apparent or assigned, and encouraging engagement and participation during ESY and summer program activities. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

· Assists and supervises students with instructional and non-instructional activities, classroom assignments, toileting, feeding, dressing, mobility, etc.

· Support students on the bus as needed

· Establishes positive relationships with students and acts as a role model for appropriate social skills and behaviors in all situations.

· Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives.

· Helps teacher(s) reinforce positive student behavior by applying proactive strategies.

· Assumes safety responsibilities for students in all environments.

· Reviews student Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs).

· Collects data in accordance with the student’s IEP goals and objectives as directed by licensed staff.

· Reinforces instruction through individual or small group activities; keeps students focused on tasks assigned by teacher(s).

· Oversees and supervises students throughout the day, including field trips, program events, boarding, riding on, and unboarding buses, during meals, recess, and other settings where teacher(s) may not be present; helps students transition to and from class.

· Assists students with learning organizational and computer literacy skills.

· Maintains service logs and records on students.

· Assists with preparing lesson materials and with classroom preparation

· Distributes teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students; distributes and collects tests and homework assignments.

· Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials in order to prevent injuries and damage.

· Observes students’ performance and records relevant data to assess progress.

· Provides disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities.

· Organizes and supervises games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.

· Other duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefits: Pay and Benefits based on the contract
Duty Days: Monday-Thursday June 20 – July 28. No school July 4th.

Program Hours for students (see below for SEA hours):
ECSE: 8:30-10:30
Elementary: 8:00-2:00
Secondary: 9:00-1:30

*Total SEA staff paid hours are variable! Total SEA work hours include student contact time listed above, in addition to before and after program time supporting breakfast and bussing and teacher collaboration. This additional time will add up to approximately 1-2 hours each day depending on the program and students. Labor requirements with earned breaks (paid and unpaid) will be scheduled in as well.

Qualifications:

· Experience working as an educational or teacher’s assistant, paraprofessional, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Minnesota Paraprofessional Certification or Minnesota Educational Assistant Certificate.

Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities Preferred: 

· Thorough knowledge of the English language structure and content, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

· General knowledge of curriculum and training design principles and methods.

· General knowledge of teaching and instructing individuals and groups.

· Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively, both orally and in written form.

Child Care Program Assistant Float

· Delivers age-appropriate curriculum in a developmentally and academically appropriate program that meets the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of the students.

· Provide supervision to students at all times; serving as a positive role model. Assist children with meals and feeding.

· Provide diaper changes and assist children with potty training. Keep daily records and logs of student activities.

· Follow daily schedules including napping and sleep schedules. Observes, evaluates, and report the children’s developmental progress, health, and well-being:  assures the classrooms promote learning in a safe environment for the children.

· Delivers classroom and recreational services: assists with attendance, work assignments, clerical duties, behavior management, and classroom preparation and set up.

Community Engagement- Clerical

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list is representative of but is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed. · Provides clerical support for the community engagement department.

· Collects and manages district out-of-school time and summer program registrations, data entry and manages information in student information systems.

· Communicates with parents to gather additional information and maintains student contact information.

· Monitors and tracks student program attendance and student membership hours.

· Assists in auditing/reconciling the out-of-school time databases, including targeted services and 21st Century.

· Collects student data as necessary for reports and compliance purposes.

· Processes, prints and distributes various program rosters, reports and lists.

· Manages program supplies, inventory and equipment.

· Responds to the needs of families and students in person and over the phone.

· Assists in planning and coordinating district community engagement events.
