Position Summary:
Provide direct career pathway instruction in Owatonna Public Schools Adult Learning Center to improve educational outcomes for adult learners in the mastery of skills needed to compete and build careers  Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance and outreach, collaborating with other staff on curriculum and content development, keeping student records and supporting volunteers.  Requires using inquiry and cooperative teaching strategies to deliver instruction through in-person and hy-flex learning environments. The teaching/learning relationship that supports and encourages the success of every adult learner through the center’s career pathways is held to the highest standards. Successful candidates will have strong, implementation-based knowledge of Minnesota Adult Basic Education content standards and demonstrated experience delivering instruction through multi-agency and community-based learning partnerships. Adult courses utlize the integrated education and training model to deliver English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, College and Career Readiness, Workforce Preparation and Career Pathway Programming. The primary focus of this position will be to provide instructional content that fosters essential skills in growing the pipeline from adult education to credential-granting programs and/or the workforce. Opportunities to deliver regional instruction through online platforms will be a new and professionally supported priority for the 2022-2023 program year. Multiple paid professional development oppotunities included in fulltime assignment.

Qualifications:
A valid MN teaching license. Highly skilled in virtual learning platforms and digital literacy. Demonstrated use of innovative strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at high levels.  Experience in utilizing inquiry and collaborative teaching/learning approaches to instruction across all GED, ESL and Career Pathway content areas preferred with documented training and/or experience in using ABE’s College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRS) and Academic, Career and Employability Skills (ACES) Transitions Integration Framework (TIF).  Previous experience in working with adult learners in an interactive, results-oriented environment preferred.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff.  Ability to work as a teacher-leader in building a collaborative learning partnership highly prized in a successful candidate. Bi-lingual skills desired. Consistent and reliable attendance a must.

ESY-Special Education Paraprofessional for SAIL Program (Kellogg, MN)

Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking four (4) talented Special Education Paraprofessional for our ESY program at SAIL. This program with meet for a total of 16 days; June 13-16, June 20-23, July 11-14 and July 18-21. Each work day will be from 8:15 AM-2:45 PM.

EMPLOYMENT DATE: School Year 2022-2023

RATE OF PAY: $14.50 – $19.50 per hour. Benefits package available.

QUALIFICATIONS:Must meet highly qualified criteria: Associates Degree or higher degree, or meets Minnesota Certified ParaPro Assessment
Certified in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Intervention (training provided)
Experience working with students with behavioral needs
Experience and skills in instructional role, use of technology, and interpersonal communications
Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and/or parents verbally and in writing
Ability to work with a team and take direction from supervising teacher
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):    Assisting teachers in their teaching duties and other general responsibilities such as organizing teaching manuals, providing instructional support, rendering reinforcement activities, etc.
Performing clerical tasks such as maintaining student attendance records, filing student information and progress reports, making copies, creating bulletin boards, etc.
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g. reinforcement of IEP goals and objectives, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and student participation
Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom
Collaborates with supervising teacher(s) or other staff as assigned for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines
Monitors special education students (e.g. classroom, field trips, lunchroom, playground, during life enrichment activities, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment

Services Coordinator

Services Coordinator

Position Purpose:
The Services Coordinator position assists SCRED member districts in implementing a continuum of support for students with Low Incidence (LI) Disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This position provides collaboration and consultation on specific student cases and overall programming, creates and facilitates high quality professional learning opportunities for member district staff, and assists in the coordination of service delivery to ensure students are receiving effective instruction designed to meet their needs in their least restrictive environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaboration & Consultation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support for the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices within the tertiary prevention level of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
    • Guide staff in the creation of special education evaluation plans that equip teams to identify infants, toddlers, and students who have LI Disabilities/ASD and their educational needs
    • Support staff in the development of IFSPs and IEPs that are designed to meet the unique communicative and behavioral needs of students with LI Disabilities/ASD
    • Consult with special education staff regarding students who are not responding to academic, behavioral, or functional skill interventions
    • Promote collaboration between general education and special education staff regarding accommodations and modifications that may help students to reach their IEP goals and access the general curriculum
    • Provide expertise as part of IFSP and IEP teams for students with significant and unique LI Disabilities/ASD-related needs
    • Ensure processes are being followed that support district placement decisions for students transitioning to and from Federal Setting III and IV programs in order to ensure that students remain in their least restrictive environment
    • Assist in developing/coordinating student reintegration plans, including Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), in order to increase the likelihood that transitioning students will function effectively in the mainstream school setting
    • Collaborate and provide consultation services regarding assistive technology, accessibility, and secondary transition
  • Professional Learning
    • Engage in professional learning opportunities aligned with SCRED goals and district-specific needs to inform SCRED professional learning opportunities related to LI Disabilities/ASD programming
    • Complete professional learning plans in collaboration with the SCRED Services Coordination Team to ensure alignment with SCRED goals and messaging across service areas
    • Facilitate professional learning using effective adult learning strategies on a variety of LI Disabilities/ASD-related topics, including assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, assistive technology, secondary transition, and program evaluation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support to enhance implementation of best practices in LI Disabilities/ASD
  • Coordination of Service Delivery
    • Facilitate the implementation of best practices in LI Disabilities/ASD-related assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
    • Assist in conducting needs assessments to support various resource allocation and/or programming decisions
    • Secure and disseminate resource materials and equipment for LI Disabilities/ASD-related needs that can be shared across districts
    • Facilitate the distribution of Collaborative Planning funds for LI Disabilities/ASD-related needs in conjunction with other service areas
    • Maintain and enforce a Placement Guideline for students transitioning to Federal Setting III and IV programs as well as those reintegrating into mainstream settings
    • Support teams in planning for transitions of students with LI Disabilities/ASD between buildings (i.e., from elementary to secondary)
    • Participate and/or facilitate SCRED internal meetings and workgroups as assigned
    • Participate in the regional Low Incidence/ASD Community of Practice
    • Provide work direction to the administrative assistant supporting the LI Disabilities/ASD services area
  • Other Duties as Assigned
