Job Summary:  The position will monitor students in classrooms, academic flex areas, and after school experiences, and will support high school students in realizing academic and behavioral success. The ideal candidate will possess strong collaborative and communication skills, is technology savvy, is self-directed but a team player, is culturally aware, and responsible.

Essential Job Functions

Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
Assists in strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
Assists with classroom and building behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas.
Assists in the management of the school building after school.

Job Summary:
– Preferred applicant to be from an area college or university
– Applicant will be trained to use specific teaching methodologies and materials to work with AVID students.
– AVID tutors should be role models of motivated, organized, successful college students who believe that all students will succeed.
– A college age tutor is a great asset but not required.
– Tutors will work in a supportive manner with secondary students.  They need to be advocates of students and be responsible to the teacher.
– They must be willing to meet regularly to discuss student progress and to confer with the teacher about future planning for students.

A Behavior Paraprofessional at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion Elementary, helping to support Behavior Specialist teachers and students in grades K-4 to create and carry out behavior plans for both Special Education and non-Special Education students.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to…

under the supervision of a Behavior Specialist, implementing behaviors plans customized and personalized for students to reinforce preferred behavior;
performing general data collection tasks for the purpose of progress monitoring student success;
having the ability and passion to work with students with emotional/behavior issues is essential;
working comfortably with students in individual, small group, and large group environments, in both general and special education settings;
working effectively with an interdisciplinary team, while having the ability to work independently;
working with school staff to provide behavior support to students in collaboration with teachers; and
participating in, and providing information for, team meetings related to student success and next actions;
this is a bi-lingual (Spanish/English) school, ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
