Columbia Heights Public Schools is seeking a Communications Coordinator to work at the district offices, supporting district-wide needs. The Communications Coordinator has a strong focus on graphic design (Adobe illustrator and InDesign) and creating content in various formats. They also support development, coordination and implementation of the District’s comprehensive communication plan. The individual in this position works collaboratively with the Director of Communications/Community Education and many other District administrators.

Position information:Located at the District Center offices
261 days/year
.6 FTE24 hours / week (not health benefit eligible)
Various other benefits are available (time off, pension, retirement, others)
Begins August 2021.

General Definition of Work
Performs difficult professional work supporting the development, coordination and implementation of the District’s
comprehensive communication plan, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Communications and Community Education.

Special RequirementsExperience working in a multicultural setting with diverse groups of people preferred.
Strong experience in graphic design and publication layout using Adobe illustrator and InDesign.
Alternatives to the qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable will also be considered.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Minnesota.

Essential FunctionsCoordinates the updating and improving of the district website and social media products, to include but not limited to formatting, content, photo and/or graphic placement, video embedding, tracking and managing statistics; provides support to district customers by ensuring applicable websites and pages are kept current and relevant.
Coordinates the development of the layout, formatting and finalizing web requirements for district online newsletters.
Coordinates the creating, interviewing, editing, placing and helping promote a variety of videos that tell the district’s story.
Coordinates the creating a variety of graphic electronic and print products to include but not limited to, online visuals, flyers, posters, programs, advertisements, internal brochures and other related public relations and/or marketing materials.
Coordinates the development and implementation of major department projects, including publications, all of which are aligned the comprehensive communications plan.
Coordinates all general graphic needs, including but not limited to social media imaging, marquee imaging, print collateral and website.
Coordinates the web analytical monitoring of district website and social media platforms.
Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of communications, graphic or web design, marketing or related fields; thorough knowledge of
writing and editing in a media setting; thorough skill in the use of computer equipment; ability to write public
information reports and releases; ability to communicate ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to maintain
effective working relationships with school officials, staff, news media and general public.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, marketing, or related field and moderate experience, or
equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and
using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching
with hands and arms and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for
expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal
spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small
defects and/or small parts, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure
to environmental conditions; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).

Math Instructional Coach (TOSA)

Job Description:
Forest Lake Area Schools is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Math Instructional Coach beginning fall 2021. This is a TOSA position that will report to the Director of Teaching & Learning and collaborate with the instructional coaching team to support licensed classroom teachers in effective math instructional practices districtwide.

Responsibilities:  Coach teachers in effective instructional practices in math through observation, modeling, co-teaching, mentoring and collaborative planning
Work with teachers individually, in PLCs and within grade level or building teams to provide instructional support and professional development in research-based strategies and best practices in math
Provide ongoing professional development and support for the implementation of Number Talks and strategies for building a conceptual understanding of mathematics
Plan and facilitate professional development around math strategies for both large and small groups
Assist teachers with the planning, sequencing and scaffolding of math instruction
Work collaboratively with teachers in determining learning targets, aligning assessments, and leveraging data to inform instruction and support student learning in math
Provide resources, guidance, and support for department/grade level colleagues and PLCs around math interventions and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Establish a relationship of trust and confidentiality with teachers
Collaborate with school and district administration, teacher leaders, and teachers to support high quality math instruction
Partner with the schools’ Professional Development Teams and principals to plan and facilitate professional development in math instructional strategies and best practices
