Position Summary:
Owatonna Public Schools provides big-school opportunities in a right-sized setting to ensure opportunities for all students are realized in the classroom and in life.  We are a close-knit community of educators with high expectations for our schools and its students.  A teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a high quality educational program to meet children’s academic and social-emotional needs.  The teacher prepares and provides developmentally appropriate educational instruction, assessments, and evaluation for students.  Furthermore, the Teacher coordinates and schedules classroom or individual instruction catered to meet the specific goals for the child in a safe and caring environment.

.5 OMS (Media/Photography) – Areas of study will include news and feature story formats; design principles; printing industry; photography principles; journalism ethics; and sales. Writing in journalistic style and instruction in photography and editing and pre-press skills will precede the actual production of the yearbook.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and current state teaching certificate in English/Language Arts. Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, may be considered.

Elementary School Principal

The principal needs to be a leader who will support the delivery and administration of District educational programs with the initial assignment to a 600 K-5 student elementary school with wonderful diversity.  The principal’s responsibilities include assisting teachers in strengthening their knowledge base and core instructional skills; developing a safe and welcoming environment where all individuals are respected and to ensure that such practices support continued outstanding student achievement in a K-5 setting. The principal must provide leadership to carry out the district’s strategic plan.  The principal must encourage parent involvement.  The principal must also work with all staff and administrators to instill in our youth the community’s core values.
