Position Information:

  • Responsible for working with students, families, and school staff to provide educational support services across the district to help ensure student success and eventual graduation.
  • Work with school staff to identify areas of concern and work with parents and students to address those areas. This may involve home visits at times that are convenient for the family.
  • Work with parents and students regarding school engagement issues, motivation, or other barriers to success.
  • May work with outside agencies to provide information about needed support for parents and students both here and as needed in the collaborative.
  • The work week will be approximately 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with exact schedule and tasks determined by district student needs.
  • Hourly wages depending on education credentials from $16/hr to $20/hr.
  • Benefits include FICA and PERA contributions.

Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent in the Spanish Language
  • Must be proficient in English language.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; 60 semester credits/AA/AS degree or college graduation preferred.
  • No license is required.
  • Experience interpreting or translating school information is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Albert Lea Online Academy Counselor

Position Information:

The Albert Lea Online Academy is being offered for students in grades 4-12. This online learning platform is for students who are self-motivated and enjoy learning in a virtual environment. Courses are all provided through the online platform using video modules, reading for learning in the subject matter, journaling, and other online resources. Teachers will guide students, check on their progress in the virtual lessons and assignments and communicate updates to parents. Parents and guardians will be the learning coach to ensure the child is attending and completing their daily work.

Albert Lea School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE School Counselor for the Albert Lea Online Academy, 2021-2022 school year.  Responsibilities include academic and career guidance and support for student social and emotional success.  The successful candidate in this position should be excellent at communicating whether via Email/Text Message or via Phone Calls/Google Meets with families and students.  Quality communications with Families is expected and staff will also be working with the Parent/Guardian learning coaches.  Experience in working with students/families online and in working with technology are preferred.

Dean of Students – Jefferson Elementary School – Faribault Public Schools

General Definition of Work:
The Dean of Students will support the operations of the school overseeing the student management, behavior and attendance. Incumbent will be responsible for student management as outlined by the building principal. This position will observe and interact with individuals, groups and communities to assist with the healthy functioning of the students at the school. This key team member will collaborate with the principals and other support personnel in order to build positive relationships with stakeholders, collaborate and communicate effectively through a variety of methods, provide leadership of behavior management and supervision; facilitate the resolution of conflict; plan, organize and manage time and resources, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal. This position will begin immediately upon hire.

Essential Functions:Assist the building Principal in establishing, implementing and evaluating effective interventions for increasing student success and achievement to build a positive environment for achieving educational outcomes.
Assists the building Principal as an instructional leader in overseeing programs; collaborate with the team, collaborate with the counseling departments, oversee student behavior and student management as directed by building principal, oversee student conduct and attendance, assist in leading curriculum and planning within building.
Monitor and communicate student progress with students, families, administrators and staff.
Support growth of students while working towards positive citizenship, improving their academic and behavior skills and abilities.
Analyze academic and behavior data collected from various records to help determine effective academic and behavioral interventions.
Serve as a member of various building teams and act as a liaison; assists staff, students and families in understanding building and district policies, procedures and requirements.
Create an environment where children from diverse backgrounds are comfortable and experience success.
Stay current with best practices research and strategies.
Other duties may be assigned.
