Position Description:
Wayzata Public Schools is currently seeking a  Director of Curriculum and Instruction to provide leadership and management to the areas of curriculum content, general Classroom and Technology-Based Instruction, Instructional Design and Delivery, Alternative Compensation and intervention.  The Director ensures that the district’s  education objectives are aligned to state frameworks and to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence.  The Director has a fundamental understanding about curriculum and instruction practices and possesses the skills necessary to bring forth Educational Program Innovation.

Specific Responsibilities

Understands curriculum review, design and implementation theories and processes and has a fundamental knowledge about the school district’s curriculum.
Understands research and theory about assembling purposeful teams that truly engage in the spirit of teamwork.  Leads teams that create, review, and modify curriculum through a well-defined curriculum review process.  With intentional focus, assembles effective curriculum review and program evaluation teams that successfully deliver difference-making objectives.
Understands best practices relating to traditional and technology-assisted methods of instruction and the processes used in instructional design and implementation.  With intentional focus and reflection, envisions and implements the ideal instructional delivery methods.  Works in cooperation with the appropriate parties to create and deliver relevant staff development experiences for resource teachers and teachers in these instructional methods.
Understands research methods and practices used in a high-quality educational program evaluation.
Understands how individual student, standardized testing, and program evaluation data are collected, analyzed, and used to bring forth responsive changes that positively impact student learning.
Has strong presentation skills and is capable of working in cooperation with building principals, resource teachers, teachers, department and grade level leaders, and parents to create and deliver presentations to the Board of Education and other constituent groups.
Has a passion for designing and implementing systems that help students, as they work in cooperation with their teachers, other staff members, and parents/guardians, to create personalized learning plan.
Provides oversight to intervention programming.  Must understand best practices to address and close the achievement gap.

Qualifications: Ed. Specialist, M.A., or M.S. degree in education.  Teaching experience required.  School Building and/or District leadership experiences strongly preferred.
Minnesota Department of Education License required in one or more of the following areas: K-12 Principal, Secondary Principal, Elementary Principal, and/or Curriculum Coordinator.

Elementary Principal

Independent School District 624 announces a principal vacancy at Hugo Elementary School.  Hugo Elementary serves approximately 300 students in kindergarten and first grades.  The Hugo Elementary Principal works closely with the Oneka Elementary School Principal to create a seamless experience for the community of learners grades K-5.

Elementary Assistant Principal

  • Develop a safe and welcoming learning environment where all individuals are respected.
  • Develops policies and procedures dealing with behavior management, and parent/student/teacher issues.
  • Fosters high student achievement through coordination and supervision of student personnel services to ensure that the student’s educational needs are met.  This includes counseling services, special education, Child Study Team, 504 services, social services, community referrals, and other associated services.
  • Coordination and monitoring of the student database, attendance procedures and records, including tardiness and filing and monitoring of truancy petitions.
  • Coordination and monitoring of grade reporting procedures and maintenance of student records.
  • Supervision and coordination of registration procedures, including preparation of registration materials and facilitation of the process with guidance personnel.
  • Development of the building master schedule, determining assignment of teachers, students and locations.  This includes coordination with other buildings, supervision of data input, and the computer scheduling process.
  • Coordination of student activity programs with faculty advisers.
  • Is an integral member of the district leadership team serving on district and community committees.
  • Coordination of building staff committees as part of the site based shared decision making plan as assigned by the principal.
  • Supervision of professional staff through the Individual Growth and Assessment process.
  • Supervision of assigned clerical and paraprofessional staff.
  • Recruitment, interviewing, and selection processes for building level personnel.
  • Public relations and communication including orientation, newsletters, and school events.
  • Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.
