Position Summary: 
The Special Education Teacher must have the ability to develop appropriate evaluation plans, knowledge of trauma informed practices, comprehensive behavior support programs, special education due process and the ability to effectively consult with classroom teachers, parents and administration. Must have knowledge of pre-referral interventions in academics and emotional/behavioral regulation, student strengths and needs and the development of an evaluation plan to determine student eligibility for special education. Must be able to work collaboratively in promoting positive and healthy interpersonal relationships and complete due process paperwork in the allowable timelines.

North Branch Area Public Schools (NBAPS) offers a well-rounded education for students of all interests and ability levels. With programs unique to the area, such as Air Force JROTC, the Pro-Start Culinary Program, Project Lead the Way from Kindergarten through graduation, computers for all students grades 5-12, gifted and talented programming, and much more, NBAPS stands out!

NBAPS serves all or parts of North Branch, Harris, Stacy, Almelund, Sunrise Twsp., Oxford Twsp., Lent Twsp., Fish Lake Twsp., Amador Twsp., and Chisago Lakes Twsp. NBAPS offers Early Childhood programming, one elementary school (Sunrise River School), a middle school (North Branch Area Middle School), high school (North Branch Area High School), and alternative programs such as the Chisago County Schools’ Life Work Center (CCSLWC), School Age Care, Distance Learning, Area Learning Center, and more.

NBAPS, which serves a population of about 20,000 residents, serves about 2,600 students PreK-12. The school district also offers basic adult education, Community Education classes, and recreational offerings.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate must hold, or be eligible for a Minnesota License as a Superintendent, or demonstrate their ability to secure licensure by June 30, 2020. Previous experience as a superintendent is preferred but not required.

Qualifications: Valid State of Minnesota License Secondary English, 5-8 or 5-12 Language Arts

Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:  This position will be on a collaborative team that teaches to standards in an interdisciplinary approach.  Candidates will be expected to assess on standards and learning targets and provide responsive instruction. The team will works out of intentional learning spaces and instruction is planned to happen in various locations and classrooms in the building.

Compensation and Yearly Duration of Employment:  Compensation will be determined by District 112 and the Chaska Education Association (CEA).
