Health Assistant – Part-Time
Job Summary
Assist school nurse by maintaining routine recordkeeping activities, and providing health services. Work under the immediate guidance and direction of a registered nurse or licensed school nurse.
Job Functions
Carry out first aid and emergency procedures for ill and injured students as directed by the school nurse.
Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures; maintain accurate log of medications dispensed.
Assist with screening activities including measuring height and weight, testing vision and hearing, and scalp.
Use Universal Precautions Procedures when cleaning all body spills and providing wound care.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including accurate, updated health records on all students.
Maintain a daily log of health office, activities, including reportable accidents, communicable disease data, and referrals to school nurse.
Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Minnesota Department of Health rule, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in health service area.
Keep health office clean and sanitary.
Record information on student health records.

Lunchroom Supervisor (2.75 hours per day)
Job Summary
Perform a variety of assigned tasks in the area of supervising the cafeteria, playground, and gym in the school under established rules, policies and procedures.
Job Functions
Supervise students on the playground, gym, and classroom through observation and monitoring, and by keeping close physical proximity with the students.
Communicate with students and adults in a positive and supportive manner.
Help to create and maintain positive, safe environments in the gym, lunchroom, classroom and on the playground.
Manage student conflicts.
Intervene in inappropriate behavior and record major behavior issues on the office referral form.
Ensure students line up and move about the lunchroom and hallways in an orderly and safe manner.
Clean and sanitize tables between lunch periods.
Inform maintenance of any spills that need to be taken care of in the lunchroom.
Be a positive example by modeling respectful behavior and using problem solving strategies.
Adhere to district policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bus Aide
The bus aide will engage in tasks to assist a student in developing the necessary skills, including social skills that align with working toward independent utilization of the Metro Transit system after school. Bus aid will also monitor and document student learning and behavior and provide data to supervisor.
