Required Qualifications:

Valid MN teaching license in Social Studies for grades 9-12. (The assignment will be teaching World History/ World Religion.)
Must demonstrate continued professional development through coursework, research and peer collaboration.
Considerable knowledge of the core curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies.
Considerable knowledge of students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
Considerable knowledge of multicultural, gender and disability fair curriculum concepts.
Considerable knowledge of classroom management techniques.
Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
Considerable skill in classroom presentation.
Considerable skill in classroom management and organization.
Working skill in maintaining records and developing reports.
Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Considerable ability to plan and implement lessons based upon district and school goals and objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
Considerable ability to provide appropriate instruction in core subjects.
Considerable ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations.
Considerable ability to interact effectively with students, parents, other school staff, administration and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Considerable ability to evaluate student performance and to present these evaluations in a manner that fosters higher student achievement.
Considerable ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
Working ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.

Responsibilties:

Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas(s) for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.
Implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program for which employed.
Follow the prescribed course of study, except as authorized in the curriculum outlines or by the principals or other official rules and regulations.
Evaluate student performance according to system used by school and/or District; promote student achievement; maintain required student records; make related reports to the principal as prescribed or authorized by the superintendent.
Maintain contact and communications with parents of students and work with them in the development of each student.
Perform classroom management duties; enforce District rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students who do not follow District rules.
Enforce District guidelines in regard to health and hygienic conditions and practices in the classroom as they may affect the physical and mental health of students.

Desired Qualifications:
Secondary counseling experience.

Responsibilities:
Development and management of a comprehensive school counseling program following the ASCA model in all three domains: academic, career development and personal/social.
Collaborate with teachers and parents to meet the needs of students through the development of academic, personal, social and career awareness activities.
Counsel individuals, small groups of students and classrooms.
Participate in policy development that contributes to the effective operation of the school.
Provide crisis intervention.
Uphold the ethical standards of the American School Counselors Association.
Act as a liaison for college admission offices and outside agencies.
Assist students in the post high school education and college application process.
Assist students, parents/guardians and teachers in interpreting and understanding student data.
Maintain documentation for each student’s progressions to completing their graduation requirements.
Coordinate the registration process.
Perform other school counseling related tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Principal and the Director of Student Services.

Forest Lake Area Schools is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Media and Innovation Specialist beginning fall 2019. This position will report to the school principal(s) and work with both students and teachers, providing media instruction for K-6 students and developing and providing instruction in the areas of STEM, technology integration, and gifted education.

 

 

Responsibilities

Teach media lessons to K-6 students and manage all aspects of the media center
Work collaboratively with teachers, grade level teams and PLCs to plan and deliver STEM-focused instruction aligned to Minnesota math and science standards and ISTE technology standards and incorporating skills in coding and the engineering design process
Provide extended learning and enrichment opportunities for students through hands-on and problem-based learning
Plan and facilitate grade-wide/school-wide STEM-focused problem-solving activities that leverage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication
Provide leadership and expertise in 21st Century learning through planning and facilitation of professional development to promote best practices in teaching and learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math
Facilitate professional development around best practices in instructional technology to help teachers effectively integrate digital tools into classroom instruction in order to provide a rich learning environment for all students
