Job Summary: 

Under the direction of the manager, district policies, and in compliance with state and federal laws, provide program leadership and perform duties involved in the supervision and implementation of district policies, curriculum, instructional programs and staff performance. This position will work with member districts and families for intake and referral procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Provide overall direction of the program personnel and students for daily operations in the absence of the manager.
  • Provide supervision, evaluation and support to staff.
  • Complete suspension paperwork and contact and notify necessary authorities for incidents resulting in suspension and/or expulsions.
  • Create, coordinate and maintain master schedule of classrooms, courses and groups for the year.
  • Assist manager with budget preparation and staffing.
  • Act as the primary liaison between own school, other schools, students and families for credit, graduation, behavioral or other needs.
  • Maintain student credit evaluation records and transcripts, certify students for completion of graduation credit and testing requirements for home high schools and own school.
  • Conduct meetings and provide training to a variety of staff specific to the functions of the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Special Education Teacher – Elementary

This position is to start the Fall of 2019.  The Special Education Teacher is responsible for creating a program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible.  Special Education Teachers provide instruction to assigned students implementing IEPs, and prepare academic materials for students following approved curricula.  Special education case management includes preparation of IEPs, reports, assessment, and leading IEP team meetings.  Experience with PBIS, and the willingness to be trained in co-teaching will be given preference.

Qualifications

Licensed  in Special Education and General Education
At least 5 years of teaching experience in multiple grade levels

Preferred

Successful experience in leading professional learning
Experience in mentoring/coaching teachers
A strong commitment to team collaboration through Professional Learning Communities (PLC) including data analysis
In-depth knowledge of a variety of reading and writing instructional strategies necessary to support the Common Core State Standards for English language arts and state math standards
Strong working knowledge of modifications and adaptations across curricular areas
Experience with implementing curriculum resources
Knowledge of research-based best practice and strategies

Responsibilities

Monitor the fidelity and implementation of the English Language Arts and math programs through site visits, analyzing student data, and instructional coaching
Provide staff leadership to ensure understanding and promotion of the educational objectives with an equity and culturally responsive lens
Continue to pursue personal professional growth through attendance at workshops, conferences, courses, and current relevant readings
Work with Special Education Leadership, principals and staff to develop effective literacy programs, including selecting materials, training teachers, and monitoring &  adjusting programs to increase effectiveness with an equity and culturally responsive lens
Work with Special Education Leadership, principals and staff to develop effective math programs, including selecting materials, training teachers, and monitoring &  adjusting programs to increase effectiveness with an equity and culturally responsive lens
Assist PLCs and individual teachers with interpreting student data, using it to inform instruction, as well as designing and implementing formative and summative assessments with an equity and culturally responsive lens
Assist and support  teachers who are new to the district
Coordinate student data collection with Curriculum and Instruction to summarize student results with an equity and culturally responsive lens
