Performs intermediate skilled human support work assisting deaf or hearing-impaired individuals understand what is being communicated, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Student Support Services.

Essential Functions:

Translate the spoken word into sign language.

Provide guidance to students regarding routines, schedules and management of materials.

Consult with licensed staff as necessary.

Special Education Coordinator (multiple openings)

This position is a member of the Special Education Administration Team that oversees special education services across the Mounds View Public Schools. MVPS has 3 early childhood sites, 2 Kindergarten centers, and 6 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, an alternative learning center, transition program and a setting IV program.  Openings are available supporting ECSE/elementary and secondary schools and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minnesota Director of Special Education license, or currently in a program to obtain licensure.
  • At least three years of teaching and/or administrative experience to include supervisory experience.
  • Master’s degree in special education instruction or related special education field, preferred.
  • Current teaching license in special education or related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure provision of FAPE for learners receiving Special Education services
  • Principal/SPED Lead Contact at assigned buildings
  • Assist as Due Process Compliance and Trainer at assigned buildings
  • Mentoring Special Education Lead Teachers
  • Provide program evaluation, supervision of itinerant staff, and participate on special education administration team, and district committees.
  • ESY development/supervision for assigned buildings
  • Track and monitor program numbers, workloads, caseloads at assigned buildings that support program implementation and sustainability.
  • Develop and implement professional development for licensed and non licensed staff
  • Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate licensed and non licensed staff
  • Provide leadership and direction re: conflict resolution – staff, parents, students, agencies.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies in supporting student and family needs
  • Facilitate the transition of student move-ins and those leaving the district.
  • Coordinate/collaborate with other district programs regarding students and transportation.
  • Participates in meetings with parents and teams to be a resource, address concerns and problem solve.
  • Participates in District-level special education leadership teams.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
