Director of Early Learning
Adult Basic Education Teacher 0.05 FTE
Position Summary:
Provide direct instruction to adult students in English as a Second Language and/or GED Preparation. Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, keeping student records and supporting volunteers. Requires using inquiry and cooperative teaching strategies to deliver instruction and integrating technology into learning.
Qualifications:
Valid MN teaching license. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Somali desired. Demonstrated use of 21st Century strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at high levels. Experience in utilizing inquiry and collaborative teaching/learning approaches to instruction across all GED and ESL content areas preferred with documented training and/or experience in using ABE’s College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRS) and Academic, Career and Employability Skills (ACES) Transitions Integration Framework (TIF). Previous experience in working with adult learners in an interactive, results-oriented environment preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff. Ability to work as a teacher-leader in building a collaborative learning partnership highly prized in a successful candidate. Digital literacy skills required, including integration of digital literacy into the student learning experience. Consistent and reliable attendance.
FTE/Schedule:
0.05 FTE / Tuesday and Wednesday evenings / 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM plus prep time
Each evening earns 2.9 hours of paid time. Classes begin April 3, 2018 and conclude on May 30, 2018.
Life Skills Teacher
Position Summary:
Provide classroom instruction to students in grades 6-8 in a newly-created REACH program. REACH stands for Relationships, Education, Accountability, Character, Hard Work. This program will be strongly based on character education, goal setting, academic support and success, and relationship building. Students in this program may be at-risk academically, socially, or emotionally and need additional support to be successful.
Requirements:

Other Skills & Abilities:
Provide a variety of strategies in working with students, and maintain flexibility in day-to-day dealing with staff, parents, and students. Excellent service orientation and interpersonal communications skills with internal and external customers. Must understand and comply with all protocols related to data privacy. Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
