The Upper School (grades 9 – 12) seeks a full-time (1.0 FTE) English/Language Arts Teacher beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

The Upper School English/Language Arts Teacher will create a classroom environment which fosters learning and personal growth; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide an excellent education, in accordance with each student’s ability; establish effective rapport with students and parents; work collaboratively with other staff members; and effectively integrate the Christian faith into class lessons and interactions with student advisees.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities of the Position Include:

  • Ability to academically and socially engage students with diverse backgrounds and abilities through quality instructional practices and positive relationships that help them achieve success in their learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials; and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Teaches department-approved curriculum. Incorporates technology into teaching and learning.
  • Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and in a timely fashion updates grade reports. Communicates this information regularly with parents.
  • Works in a supportive manner with colleagues and supervisors. Collaborates with a team for professional learning and growth, including sharing practices, reviewing student work, and setting shared goals that support school improvement.
  • Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops and professional development in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices.
  • Participates in a personal professional goal-setting and evaluation process on a regular basis.
  • Performs other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the administrator for effective school operation.

ELL Teacher – Elementary

Teacher- English Learner (EL)

JOB FUNCTION:
The ELL Teacher provides support for students who are identified as English Language Learners in a variety of settings including co-teaching, small group instruction, and consultation with classroom teachers. Additionally, they provide support for staff through co-planning and capacity building. The ELL teacher supports equity and inclusion work in all facets of curriculum, assessment and instruction.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify ELL students using the district criteria, including the ACCESS assessment.
2. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate instructional programming to meet the needs of ELL students.
3. Collaborate with the District ELL administrator on programming, data analysis, and instructional planning.
4. Be a resource for colleagues by modeling instructional strategies, identifying and developing instructional resources, and providing professional development related to the needs of ELL students.
5. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and members of the school community.
6. Introduce teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement.

Position Purpose:
This position has a Math Focus. Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructors are responsible to plan, implement, and assess curriculum for ABE students. This includes, but is not limited to: General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), US Citizenship, Adult Diploma, digital literacy, workplace skills, career and post-secondary planning, basic literacy and numeracy. Instructors will help monitor and improve student and program outcomes.

Essential Duties:

  • Curriculum and Instruction
    • Provide direct instruction in ABE content areas
    • Select and develop curricula which motivates and reflects the goals, needs, interests and expectations of the learner
    • Direct volunteers as needed
    • Facilitate volunteer literacy tutors/student matches

  • Data Management and Accountability
    • Maintain all registration and attendance data for ABE reporting requirements
    • Collect and monitor student data per MDE requirements

    • Attend district staff meetings and consortium meetings
    • Participate in regional and state in-service training
    • Complete all current/required state and district training
