Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School District, located in Walker, MN is seeking a full-time High School Principal for the 2024–2025 school year.  We are looking for candidates with relevant experience in the following areas:  building strong relationships with students, staff and the community, instructional leadership and professional development, master scheduling, ethics and professionalism, strong written and verbal communication skills and High Reliability Schools.

Candidates will have a valid K-12 Principal license.  Administrative experience is recommended, but not required.

The District consists of students from the cities of Walker, Hackensack, Akeley, and Onigum!  Located three hours north west of the Twin Cities area, our area is a great place to raise a family.  Featuring high bluffs, lakes, and pines throughout the area, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Public School sits in the middle of Walker, featuring a Pk-12 building, enrolling over 750 students and a new Level 4 building that supports the needs of students in the region.  With small class sizes, our students get the individualized attention to support their strengths and address the challenges of each individual student from a dedicated, master staff.  WHA is one of only two High Reliability Schools in Minnesota to have been certified as a Level 2 School. Description:
Executive Director of Teaching & Learning, 8 hours a day for 260 Contract Days.

Summary:
The Executive Director of Teaching and Learning is an innovative and creative leader with strong communication and collaboration skills who oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of ongoing program development including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and professional development of Teaching and Learning including Curriculum and Instruction, Artificial Intelligence, Equity, Professional Development, Online Learning, Alternative Learning, District Assessment Coordination,  Adult Education, Professional Development, Technology, Child Care, Care and Treatment, Career and Technical Education, General Education Programs, MTSS, 504 plans oversight, grant writing and other duties as assigned. The Executive Director will work collaboratively in partnership with other executive directors and the superintendent as well as their teams to build a model of education for Minnesota.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Support the planning, organizing, leading, and professional development of general education and early intervention Teaching and Learning programs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Special Services to support special education programs
  • Collaborate with member and associate member districts to plan, organize, lead and implement new and innovative programs to meet the needs of learners.
  • Develop and implement MTSS at SouthWest Metro and connect the system of member and associate member district systems.
  • Support the planning, organizing, leading, and professional development of Equity across all departments and programs.
  • Support the planning, organizing, leading, and professional development for SouthWest Metro Staff, member districts and association member districts.

Special Education Coordinator

Job Summary:  

Mahtomedi Public Schools is looking for an aspiring leader to join our team of dedicated special education staff.  Under the supervision of the Director of Student Support Services, the Special Education Coordinator will assist District staff to successfully meet the educational needs of students with disabilities in grades K–12+ and will ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Current Minnesota Special Education license PELSB
  • Master’s degree in the educational field
  • Two or more years in a leadership or coaching position; experience with Setting 3 program development is preferred
  • Two or more years of experience developing, implementing and evaluating special programs and working with students with low incidence disabilities
  • Expertise in Special Education Due Process and compliance
  • Group facilitation and conflict resolution training and experience
  • Experience with general education curriculum and differentiated instruction
  • Experience creating and implementing meaningful professional development activities
  • Experience training and coaching educators in the implementation of positive behavioral supports and restrictive procedures
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to establish collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to use communicate, express or exchange ideas and convey details or important instructions to others accurately
  • Google Suite experience preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Student Support Services on the implementation of special education programming and supporting staff to ensure consistency and alignment of practices/procedures across all buildings
  • Work directly with the Director of Student Support Services on the development of annual staffing plans
  • Provide due process assistance to staff and implement plans for monitoring and maintaining compliance
  • Create and implement an annual calendar of professional development opportunities for licensed staff
  • Oversee the Extended School Year (ESY) process including eligibility decisions and alignment of ESY with other district summer programs
  • Monitor Third Party Billing implementation in the District and provide applicable staff training
  • Oversee and develop Setting 3 Programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional/Behavior Disorders and Developmental Cognitive Delays
  • Provide leadership in the vertical and horizontal alignment of specialized curriculum to ensure organized and sequenced instruction that will reduce learning gaps and progressively prepare students for post-secondary success
  • Facilitate ongoing program evaluation and development of the district’s Setting 3 programs, including conducting critical analysis of the effectiveness of services, and providing feedback and recommendations for program improvements/changes and technical assistance as needed
  • Serve as a district expert in the area of positive behavior supports and services; support staff, parents, and administrators in the consistent use of strategies to enhance the social emotional skills of students demonstrating challenging behaviors
  • Interface with District administrators and Districtwide staff to collect, disaggregate, analyze, and present to appropriate stakeholders, state and district performance data for the purpose of increasing student achievement
  • Facilitate collaborative relationships among parents, school staff and representatives of other agencies and organizations
  • Support special education staff in the selection, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based and evidence-informed instructional practices; assist IEP teams to develop and implement high-quality, standards-based special education services that result in meaningful student outcomes
  • Facilitate team meetings, model effective and positive problem-solving skills and foster collaborative communication
  • Collaborate with building administrators regarding the work of non-licensed special education staff including: assignments/scheduling, role responsibilities, service delivery models, best practices, professional development and performance evaluation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of technologies used for instruction and due process record keeping
    Serve on District committees such as the Special Education Advisory Council
  • Attend regional/state meetings as necessary
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Director of Student Support Services
