Schedule: 182 day contract per school calendar

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for assisting in assessing and identifying students with special needs according to Minnesota eligibility criteria. The Special Education Teacher plans for providing input, development and implementation of individualized education programs and instruction in academic and behavioral areas in collaboration with other educational professionals, parents and administrators. Depending upon assignment and license, Special Education Teachers provide specialized instruction in addressing student needs and learning.

ABOUT JOURNEYS:
The Journeys program is located at the MAWSECO Education Center in Howard Lake and serves children with behavioral needs in grades K-4. It is a multi-district program and is managed by Meeker & Wright Special Education Cooperative. Journeys serves young students with behavioral needs that cannot be met within their home school district. Students receive academic classes, social, and life skills which are individualized to foster learning and successful interactions with peers and adults. Students are recommended for these services by their IEP team and with the approval of district administration. The students reintegrate, as appropriate, back to their home school as recommended by the IEP team.

 ABOUT MAWSECO:
MAWSECO is an agency of seven-member school districts (Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Litchfield, Maple Lake and Rockford) that have joined together to provide services in the area of special education. The mission of the Cooperative is to provide quality special education leadership, services, and support to its seven-member school districts’ staff, students and families as well as other agencies/districts that purchase its services. The MAWSECO central office is located in Howard Lake, MN which is west of the metro and south of St. Cloud.

Essential Functions: A full-time (1.0 FTE) Kindergarten-5th grade Art Teacher at Jefferson Elementary School and Roosevelt Early Learning Center. Performs professional work providing a broad range of teaching services within our elementary school, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes, and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience.

Academic Standards and District Assessment Coordinator – Secondary

Mankato Area Public Schools has a position available for a Secondary Academic Standards & District Assessment Coordinator with the Teaching and Learning Department. This is a full-time, 12-month, Non-affiliated position with Category III benefits beginning as soon as possible.

Summary of Duties: 
The Secondary Academic Standards and District Assessment Coordinator is responsible for providing instructional leadership to ensure the implementation of the MN state standards in 6-12 classrooms, and oversees the administration of state and local assessments for the district.

Qualifications Required: 

  • Valid MN Teacher’s License
  • Minimum of five years successful classroom experience

Activities Director

Director of Activities & Athletics

Position Overview
The Director of Activities & Athletics is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and management of all extracurricular and co-curricular programming across K–12. This includes athletics (MSHSL and non-league), fine arts, clubs, elementary and middle school (MCSAA) programming, and coordinating with after-school enrichment (Skyhawks). The position ensures all programming reflects the school’s mission, aligns with educational goals, and fosters student growth, engagement, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Alignment

Oversee a comprehensive portfolio of programs including 15 MSHSL athletics, multiple cooperative partners, middle school activities, elementary athletics, fine arts programs, and K–12 clubs.
Ensure alignment of all activities with the school’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Serve as the primary liaison to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), assigned conferences, cooperative agreements, and external partners.
Coordinate key student life events such as Homecoming and Prom, in partnership with school leadership and student organizations.
Staffing, Supervision & Facility Coordination

Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate coaches, directors, and program volunteers.
Promote a positive and professional culture for all activity leaders that supports student success and program quality.
Schedule gym for school sponsored events and coordinate with community partners for facility usage.
Event & Operations Management

Coordinate all logistical aspects of events and activities including scheduling, venue setup, supervision, transportation, and staffing coverage.
Attend key events to support programming and ensure smooth operations.
Oversee the inventory, distribution, and return of school-owned athletic equipment and uniforms. Maintain organized and secure equipment rooms and implement appropriate physical security measures.
Eligibility, Conduct, & Policy

Refine and enforce academic eligibility standards for student participation.
Partner with administration on matters of student conduct and school supervision as related to extracurricular participation.
Maintain compliance with school policies and MSHSL regulations.
Financial Oversight

Develop and manage Fund 4 budgets related to activities and athletics.
Ensure proper handling and accounting of funds, including activity fees, gate receipts, and concessions.
Assist with purchasing, invoicing, and reconciliation processes for the Activities Department to ensure accurate financial tracking.
Collaboration, Communications & Community Engagement

Partner with building administrators and district staff to integrate activities into the broader educational experience.
Contribute to schoolwide supervision and other duties as assigned to support the school community.
Collaborate with the communications team to promote activities through social media, school webpages, and email newsletters. Ensure effective visibility and engagement with students, families, and the community.
Serve as a liaison to parent-led groups such as the ERA Booster Club to support fundraising, event support, and program development.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree (Education, Educational Administration, Kinesiology, Sport Management, Business, or related field).
Experience overseeing school-based athletics and/or activities, including personnel management.
Prior coaching or program leadership experience.
Familiarity with MSHSL rules and procedures.
Budgeting and program operations experience.
Preferred:

Advanced degrees or administrative licensure.
Experience in Classical Education or alignment with its philosophy and values.
Salary Range $94,291-$120,645

Elementary Physical Education/DAPE Teacher

Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE):

Provide evaluation and specially designed instruction to eligible students from kindergarten through the age of 21 who have a broad range of cognitive disabilities and deficits in adaptive behavior. DAPE teachers collaborate and consult with families, other classroom and special education teachers, and specialized service providers in designing and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) plans.
