1. Responsible for case management of special education students. 2. Complete required Due Process procedures within mandated time frames. 3. Knowledge and abilty in appropriate assessment procedures and to analyze assessment data and make appropriate recommendations. 4. Develop Individual Education Plans (IEP/IFSP/IIIP) based on assessment data and student needs. 5. Develop and provide programming based on Individual Educational Plan. 6. Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences, etc. 7. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. 8. Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices. 9. Will participate in training on third party reimbursement and implement third party reimbursement tasks as needed. 10. Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors. 11. Participates in a professional learning community on a regular basis. 12. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Education Specialist

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has an opening for an Education Specialist 1 in St. Paul. Job duties include but are not limited to: -Assist with management of and make recommendations regarding all funding sources in the education budget. Develop, process, monitor and report on the Federal and State Adult Basic Education (ABE) grant, Federal Title 1, Special Education, Perkins and the Youthful Offender grants. Research new grant activity. -Manage career-technical program certification. Develop an offender career-technical program participation and completion information collection process. Provide required participation and completion information to Century College for the awarding of the appropriate program certificate. -Manage the Children’s Books for Literacy program for the adult and juvenile facilities. -Assist DOC Education Unit administration with the program evaluation process. Coordinate the logistics of evaluating 12 on-site education programs. -Coordinate the implementation of new education software and hardware technology for the DOC Education unit. Develop an annual training schedule for all education staff designed to keep staff current in the provided technology. Maintain education software inventory, contracts (where applicable) and maintenance agreements. -Coordinate and oversee development and production of the DOC Education iShare site, a monthly education newsletter and the DOC Programs of Study catalog.
