Intercultural Specialist District Middle Schools Start Date: August 2016 Banded/Graded: C-4-1 Salary: $53,589 Days/Hours: 195 days; 8 hrs/day; 7:30am – 4:00pm Responsible To: Building Principal/Community Education Manager Position Purpose: To increase the capacity of Eastern Carver County Schools. To design, implement, and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent education systems to address growing diversity, persistent disparities, and to promote education equity. To understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures. To assist in developing mutual understanding between schools, families, and communities. Support Middle School diverse and low income students and their families. Help children reach their personal best. Outreach, linking families to service, helping families navigate the district educational system, support teacher and administartion in working with our underseved population. Required Qualifications: Must be bilingual in Spanish. BS/BA Degree in Education, Community Education, Social Work, Multicultural studies, Counseling or related field (prefer counseing or social work). Preferred Qualifications: Experience with various cultural family systems. Knowledge of the American Education system. Knowledge of adult learning theory.
