The Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1920. We are located in St. Peter, Minnesota. MSBA prides itself as being a “Go-To” education association by providing workshops, resources, services, and connections designed to help school boards save time, reduce expenses, govern efficiently, and stay inspired.

Position

MSBA is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Management Services to join the Management Services team.

This position has a hybrid working model; it requires occasional evening and weekend hours.

Primary Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Management Services will:

  • Research and respond to members’ inquiries on human resources-related matters, negotiations, finance, board-superintendent relations, and other issues related to school district operations.
  • Support and assist with member training sessions, as well as other MSBA programs and services.
  • Assist with review of existing Management Services related materials, programs, and services for accuracy and effectiveness; make modifications to reflect best practices, align to current statute and/or policy protocol and procedure, and meet the changing needs of members and MSBA.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships in order to work collaboratively with team members, MSBA staff, MSBA members, partners, and other organizations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of standard computer software and technology (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite and related programs).
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills enabling effective interaction with individuals at all levels, together with a customer-service-oriented approach emphasizing responsiveness and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision and to collaborate with others as needed.
  • Excellent research, strategic, and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills for small and large groups.
  • Familiarity with local government boards or educational environments, coupled with understanding of public education and school board governance.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of human resources strategies and practices such as employee relations, performance management, leaves (ADA, FMLA), etc.

Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented Special Education Paraprofessional for the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) SPECTRUM Program, which is located in Hokah, MN. This position is full-time during the 9-month School Year.

Location: Hokah, MN

EMPLOYMENT DATE: School Year 2024-2025

RATE OF PAY: $17.25-27.25 per hour based experience. Benefits package available.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent and meets Minnesota Certified ParaPro Assessment (provided by HVED), or Associates Degree or higher degree
  • Certified in Safety Care (training provided)
  • Experience working with students with behavioral needs
  • Experience and skills in instructional role, use of technology, and interpersonal communications
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and/or parents verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with a team and take direction from supervising teacher
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • Assisting teachers in their teaching duties and other general responsibilities such as organizing teaching manuals, providing instructional support, rendering reinforcement activities, etc.
  • Performing clerical tasks such as maintaining student attendance records, filing student information and progress reports, making copies, creating bulletin boards, etc.
  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g. reinforcement of IEP goals and objectives, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and student participation
  • Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom
  • Collaborates with supervising teacher(s) or other staff as assigned for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines
  • Monitors special education students (e.g. classroom, field trips, lunchroom, playground, during life enrichment activities, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 12 School Districts and 2 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. Health Services Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health Services Coordinator for South Washington County Schools provides leadership and coordination of health care for students who attend both private and public school within the district boundaries.  Provide leadership as the certified public and school health nurse, leading, collaborating, integrating, facilitating and evaluating school health services and programs to provide positive learning outcomes to preschool, school age, and youth through health promotion, disease prevention and health maintenance. To develop and sustain the liaison between the schools, home, and local, state and national health community. Primary responsibilities include training, delegation, monitoring and supervising health care procedures delivered by building nurses. This coordinator is a member of the special services administrative team.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate School District Building Nurses, Health Assistants, Paraprofessionals, Clerical Staff, Family School Coordinators

  • Analyze workflow related to effectiveness and efficiency of assessment processes in the school health services program.
  • Coordinates and provides leadership over the operations and health services staff.
  • Coordinates and provides leadership over the operations and health services for Community Education and Out of School Time Services.
  • Recruit, interview and make hiring recommendations for school health services personnel.
  • Direct, monitor school health services staff including development and evaluation of staff improvement plans.
  • Advise and make recommendations to the Director of Special Services regarding Minnesota Nurse Practice Act.
  • Arrange for substitutes. Maintains and manages a substitute nurse pool.
  • Assists nurses in writing Individual Health Plans and/or Section 504 Plans with health services accommodations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and records
  • Member of the Mental Health Lead Team

Organize and Conduct Professional Development

  • Development and training of staff that provide health services, physical & mental health, and other staff that contribute to a student’s overall health status.
  • Development and delivery of orientation for new and substitute Health Services staff.
  • Develop and coordinate quality improvement activities.

Health Policy and Procedure Development, Implementation, and Evaluation

  • Assessment, planning and evaluation of the health services component of the coordinated school health program.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate school health services policies and procedures to support student learning & delivery of care to students and the practice of nursing.
  • Assure policies and procedures adhere to state and federal legal and regulatory requirements, and ethical standards of nursing practice.
  • Implementation of communicable disease control in the schools, including monitoring, surveillance and participation in disease prevention and outbreak management.
  • Interpret health mandates, recommendations and trends to school personnel.
  • Advocates integration of district vision and policies into action plans.

Provide Consultative Service

  • Provide health related consultation as a member of the specialized education team.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations in the planning and development of accommodation plans for Section 504 eligible students.
  • Serve as health care consultant for school personnel, students and their parents/families.
  • Provide professional health care leadership to administrators and school staff.
  • Interpret health mandates, recommendations and trends to school personnel.
  • Consult and provide input into committees that share responsibility for wellness and health, i.e. health & safety committee, emergency preparedness committee, employee wellness committee, etc.

Community/Agency Liaison

  • Function as the liaison between the school and local health service agencies/providers.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with community health partners.
  • Serves on community leadership committees with Washington County as needed.

Health Counseling, Intervention, and Prevention

  • Coordinate the establishment of guidelines, procedures and training in First Aid/CPR for schools and staff.
  • Coordinate and monitor AED programs in the schools
  • Coordinate screening programs and immunization review/follow up for the schools.
  • Coordinate the establishment of guidelines, procedures, and training of blood borne pathogen/Hepatitis B vaccination/Post-Exposure Plan.
  • Coordinate district annual flu vaccination clinic for district staff and their families.

Budget Development and Maintenance

  • Recommends and manages the health services budget. Orders and purchases district health service supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor equipment needed and budget requests from individual buildings, including capital expense.
  • Develop and maintain vendor agreements for supplies and services.

Provide Coordination of Health Data/Technology Support

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the system for the identification of students with special health care needs.
  • Establishes and monitors pupil health record systems.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Serves as a member of the district emergency management leadership team.
  • Provides recommendations on planning and development of crisis team agendas.
  • Assures policies and procedures for school safety planning.

Specialized Education Third Party Reimbursement

  • Coordinate third party reimbursement for health and mental health related services for all students.
  • Reviews state and federal regulations for third party reimbursement.
  • Participates in third party reimbursement networking meetings with area districts.
  • Assists with the implementation of time studies for SEDRA reporting.
  • Interprets Department of Human Services (DHS) guidelines for school based Personal Care Assistants (PCAs).
  • Oversees training and certification of PCAs.

Other duties as assigned

  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of this position
