Minimum Requirements:

Must have a valid MN license for teaching 6th grade and Middle School English Language Arts or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in school setting and/or previous experience working with secondary level students
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with students, colleagues, and community

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments

Administrative Assistant to the Director of Teaching and Learning

Hours:  Mon-Fri, 261 contract days, 8 hrs/day

Position is full-time, 261 days a year. This position is part of the clerical bargaining unit and based at the District Office.  Salary and benefits pursuant to the Master Agreement including generous paid time off and holidays.

Job Summary:

As an administrative assistant, this position plays a crucial role in the support of the daily operations of the Teaching & Learning Department and ensures the smooth functioning of administrative processes at a district level.  The position supports the Director in a variety of administrative tasks to ensure both students and staff have the resources and support they need.

Primary Duties:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Teaching & Learning, assists in the preparation of monthly budget reports for accuracy and monitors expenses.  Code expenditures with accuracy including capital, personnel, staff development expenditures (meals, mileage and parking) and codes staff timesheets.
  • Prepare and receive purchase orders in the finance system, initiate orders for new curriculum-related products, track annual subscriptions and arrange professional development and conference registrations, as needed.   Collect payment from families and deposit funds accurately for applicable student experiences (ex. Young Authors Conference) Arrange and facilitate the sale of used textbooks.
  • Maintain accurate records of core curriculum resources used in all content areas.
  • Work with vendors to request samples and quotes.  Maintain accurate records of current contracts.  Serve as main resource for staff questions regarding curriculum resources
  • Access educational data and create visual presentations for District Staff Development, World’s Best Workforce, Achievement and Integration, and other reports.  Maintain department website for updates.  Coordinate civil rights data collection review district-wide, submit compiled information and resolve any errors
  • In coordination with the district data coordinator, provide support for district assessments  (ex: MCA, MTAS, ACCESS, MAP, FastBridge, CogAT) order tests and assemble school testing supplies for schools, maintain online testing calendar and refusal form, roster students and staff for assessments when applicable, and disseminate MCA reports to families.  Attend annual webinar for updates
  • Under the direction of the Director of Teaching & Learning, coordinate with St. Jude’s of the Lake regarding enrollment for special services and non-public AIDS forms in the summer.  Review monthly budgets and provide status on funds available.  Provide St. Jude enrollment information to finance and special services
  • Track home school families who apply for the State Non-Public AIDS program and maintain applicable spreadsheets and forms.  Follow up with families to ensure deadlines are met.  Collaborate with MARSS Coordinator and District Nurse to ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.   Attend quarterly meetings and relay appropriate information to the Director of Teaching & Learning.  Serve as main contact for questions from staff and families

Other duties: coordinate department meetings, (i.e.  manage calendar invites, set up rooms and arrange for resources as needed)  Provide assistance to the front desk and communications in a variety of functions.

Under the direction of the Director of Teaching & Learning, manage the list of district-wide curriculum committees and update changes on an annual basis.  Communicate summer curriculum writing with staff and coordinate follow up meetings.  Work with district staff to coordinate fall workshop schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in related field or specialized training, and/or equivalent work experience for successful completion of the essential functions of the job
  • At least 1 year previous administrative and customer-focused work experience, in an educational setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of budgets and basic accounting principles
  • Proficient with office software applications (e.g., Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite) experience developing newsletters, knowledge of web based applications and the ability to quickly learn new technology
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  • Collaborative and positive attitude with the ability to work well within a team and provide support across different departments
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision

Summer 2024 GAME ON Targeted Services Enrichment Instructor at Park Center (program for BMS and NVMS students)

Casual Instructor-Game On Middle Level Targeted Services Programming Summer 2024

Located at Park Center Senior High for for Brooklyn and North View Middle School Students.

Hiring for these positions will start after Spring break until we have enough staff for the students enrolled. Registration for summer programs will be open until April 19 or until the max number of students are enrolled!

General Purpose of Job

We are looking for licensed teachers who will lead our summer scholars in activities that will help them to develop academically in high interest and creative lessons. We offer a structured yet informal setting to allow students to connect socially with staff and new friends and also to familiarize themselves with middle school expectations so that when school resumes in the fall they feel welcome and prepared.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Promote effective use of time, materials and set standards for student accountability,
Develop, document, and implement daily lesson plans to meet Targeted Services expectations and programming requirements,
Actively engage and supervise students during the scope of the program (classroom instruction, field trips, enrichment opportunities, lunchroom, and transitions),
Keep student related/program related records, such as attendance, programs, schedules, and others as determined by the Program Facilitator and Administration, and
Be knowledgeable of the overall mission of the district and the policies and procedures of the individual program.
Complete required attendance and continuous learning plan paperwork for the program.
Help support daily enrichment and potential summer field trips throughout the program.

Minimum qualifications include:
MN teaching license in appropriate field

Program Information:
Targeted Services programming for students entering 6-8 grade in the fall of 2024 from BMS and NVMS
Location: Park Center Senior High
June 17 through July 25 (6 Weeks of programming)

Student Hours: Monday – Thursday
9:00-3:00 Tentative 6/17-7/25, Closed June 19th and July 4th

Instructor Hours
8:30-3:30 (tentative hours that may vary based on program or schedule needs)

Job Type: Casual, summer
Salary: Per casual salary guidelines – $33/hr

Summer Emergency Training – this will need to be required before students attend
All staff meetings – TBD in April, and/or May as needed
Program set-up and training – Week of 6/10-14 TBD with summer program administration.
Clean up day on site as needed July 26th, 2024.

ESP – Student Support Services – District Wide Intervention Support

Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by supporting students and assisting the special education teacher in the operation and function of the classroom. To work with individual or small groups of students as assigned by and under the supervision of the District’s Special Education Coordinator. This is a permanent position whose daily assignment is determined by student needs.

Responsibilities and tasks include:
Assist District Behavior Specialist with the implementation of behavioral interventions.
Support classroom teacher and ESPs in the implementation of interventions and data collection, under the direction of a District Behavior Specialist.
Observing, collecting, documenting and reporting data as requested.
Carrying out the special education needs, goals and objectives of students as communicated by the special education teacher.
Participating in IEP conferences as requested.
Insuring that vulnerable students are adequately supervised.
Using adaptive equipment correctly and safely.
Supporting students who display aggressive, abusive or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior as outlined on the Behavior Support Plan (BSP)
Following all district procedures and policies for maintaining a health and safe environment for students and staff
Assisting students with self-care tasks of feeding, dressing, and toileting. Lifting, moving and transitioning may be necessary for repositioning and/or functional tasks. Under the direction of a licensed school nurse or registered nurse, perform basic medical procedures to include, but not limited to: tube feedings, seizure recognition and precautions, etc.
Operating adaptive equipment (i.e., wheelchairs, augmentative communication devices, assistive technology) and insuring their safe and proper use.
Participation in district training program prior to and during employment.
Keeping all student information strictly confidential.
Communicating with appropriate personnel as dictated by Federal Education Reporting practices Act (FERPA) and district policy.
Participation in district training program prior to and during employment.
Support and mentor ESPs in areas as assigned by the District’s Special Education Coordinator.
Participate in staff team meetings when requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be Highly Qualified – Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota’s standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
An Associate’s (or higher) degree; Minnesota’s standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree OR
Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment within 30 days of your start date, working in a Title I school must be Highly Qualified in accordance with MDE.
