Asses the health and developmental status of the school age student, through district health screening programs.  Facilitate referrals to health care agencies or facilities when requested.
Promote and maintain health and well-being of students, families and school personnel by health teaching and health counseling.
Develop Individual Health/Emergency Plans for those students with special needs.  Communicate with families, teachers, and staff regarding the development and implementation of these plans.  Periodically evaluate plans and revise as necessary.
Prevent and control communicable disease through health status, and implementation of the state immunization law.
When required participate in staffing regarding students with special needs and assume responsibility for contributions to the health component of the IEP (Individual Education Plan).
Maintain health records on all students enrolled in the school.
Excuse or readmit students for health reasons in accordance with the building procedure and county health department exclusion guidelines.
Complete student accident report forms for students needing doctor’s attention and/or resulting in a loss of school time.
Train and supervise volunteers/staff whenever they are used in the health services program.
Serve as a resource to faculty for health education purposes.
Minimum Qualifications include:

 

Must be a registered nurse currently licensed in the State of Minnesota
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Basic first aid and health screening
Ability to communicate and foster positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.
Ability to teach health information to student groups.
Public health background preferred.
Current CPR
Computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

Communicating work allocation directives issued by the Coordinator and Assistant Coordinators of Facility Operations and building principal to the building custodial personnel.
Scheduling work assignments and assume responsibility for assignments being carried out as assigned;
Reviewing timecards and absentee reporting for accuracy;
Adjusting work assignments to ensure coverage during vacation time, absences and scheduled activities;
Training new personnel in the performance of their required duties;
Maintaining and operating custodial equipment to manufacturers’ recommendations;
Performing periodic safety inspections of site facilities, grounds and equipment;
Providing input regarding evaluations of all building level custodians;
Unloading and putting away groceries and stock supplies in freezers, coolers, and dry storage rooms.
Maintaining, and taking ownership for all yard work including, but not limited to, watering, mowing, trimming, pruning shrubs, trees, weeding, removing paper and debris from school yard and along fence lines.
Performing snow removal and keeping sidewalks free of ice.
Taking charge of all aspects of the physical operation of the building for which they are responsible;
Responsible for the operation of the boiler, boiler room and all mechanical equipment in their building;
Reporting to the Assistant Coordinator of Maintenance Services (or their designee) any mechanical equipment that is not functioning as intended;
Maintaining and submitting all appropriate reports and logs in a timely manner;
Conducting daily building checks as required by supervisor;
Performing minor carpentry repairs, cleaning equipment repair, ceiling and floor tile repair, carpet repair;
Performing general housekeeping tasks to include, but not limited to, dust mopping and wet mopping classrooms, restrooms, and hallway floors, cleaning restrooms, stripping and sealing resilient and hard surface floors, washing windows, walls, lockers. Vacuuming all carpeted areas of the building. Housekeeping tasks to be performed according to established District systems and cleaning standards.
Performing other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include:

High school graduate or equivalent
MN First Class C boiler license upon hire
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
Computer skills, including proper use of email communication
Knowledge of proper operation of building automation systems
Knowledge of hand, power, diagnostic tools, and equipment required in the performance of the job.
Knowledge of all safety precautions applicable to trade.
Knowledge of the fundamentals and procedures of HVAC operation, repair, and proactive/reactive maintenance.
General knowledge in the principles of general repair and maintenance in such areas as mechanical, electrical, steam, air system, carpentry, and masonry or plumbing.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials.

Preferred qualifications include:

This building has advanced energy efficient building controls including an energy management system and direct digital controls; systems are hot water boilers. Candidates should have the ability to learn computerized controlling systems and develop an understanding of direct digital controls. HVAC training or experienced preferred.MN
MN Chief C boilers license preferred
Training or experience cleaning and maintaining a commercial facility desired.
Building Engineer experience preferred.

The Executive Director of Finance and Operations for Austin Public Schools provides district-level leadership and coordination of the Finance Department, Facilities Services, Food and Nutrition Services, and Transportation Services. This cabinet-level position is responsible for implementing learning and change management in alignment with the strategic priorities of Austin Public Schools.

Leadership
• Align fiscal and human resources to assist the District in meeting its mission, vision, and strategic plan
• Coordinate professional development for all members of the Finance and Operations departments
• Monitor continuous improvement and change management of internal processes

• Lead cross-functional work in collaboration with other departments to ensure customer service to internal and external stakeholders

• Facilitate the Finance, Facilities, and Insurance Committees

 

Financial Management
• Evaluate, develop, and implement processes for business office procedures in compliance with state and federal laws
• Review and approve contracts for goods and services
• Review and approve general ledger journal entries
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate the Finance Department, Facilities Services Director, and Food & Nutrition Services Director.
• Coordinate all district student transportation with the third-party transportation provider

Reporting
• Review and interpret internal financial reports with School Board and stakeholders
• Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required
• Administer fiscal portion of federal and state programs and grants as needed
• Coordinate and review reports, worksheets, and data related to audit, respond to auditor’s questions, and resolve identified issues

Budgeting
• Prepare operating budgets, projecting revenues and expenditures, and review and modify budgets as necessary
• Monitor budgets to comply with state and federal reporting guidelines
• Prepare capital expenditure budget and ten-year capital improvement plan
• Prepare cost studies on programs as needed

• Work with building principals/site leaders and departments to prepare and monitor their budgets

Risk Management
• Administer District insurance programs to ensure adequate coverage levels
• Administer District employee insurance programs in compliance with state and federal laws and employee contracts

Other
• Actively participate in employee contract negotiations, providing data and insight on proposals
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field and three to five or more years of fiscal management experience

DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES:

Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and legal/governmental regulations related to performing this position.
Effectively use current technology tools to enhance personal productivity.
Write and/or present reports, documents, presentations, proposals, and general correspondence clearly and concisely.
Develop long-range plans, establish and successfully achieve goals, and make consistently sound, defensible decisions in performing all aspects of this position.
Working knowledge of applicable and payroll-related tax laws, retirement legislation, TRA, TSA regulations, child support rules, leaves and garnishments, and other regulations that require compliance by the District in its payroll administration.
Provide leadership through school-business cycle events such as Open Enrollments and ACA reporting.
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skills, and abilities to effect consistent accuracy, reliability, and confidentiality in all aspects of payroll administration.
Possess knowledge of safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to pupil transportation for Minnesota public school systems.
Supervisory experience involving public organization facilities maintenance, operations, and construction
Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the operations and maintenance of school facilities
Demonstrate knowledge of applicable District, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations related to food service.
