Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Music, Vocal Teacher – Faribault Middle School

Responsibilities include curricular choirs in grades 6, 7, 8 with three formal concerts yearly, general music class, and voice lessons.  Additional collaborative performances and events may be scheduled throughout the year, with the option to expand extra-curricular ensembles.

We are looking for a candidate who is willing to work collaboratively as part of a team of choir directors and a K-12 music department.  The qualified candidate should have linking knowledge on current Minnesota state standards, proficient piano skills, demonstrated success working with middle school aged voices, excellent classroom management skills, and a strong desire to perform diverse choral music.  This position commences with the 2023-2024 school year on August 21, 2023

TITLE: Head Custodian
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM- Blue Heron Elementary School

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School degree, GED, or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of building cleaning and maintenance.
3. Demonstrated positive customer service skills.
4. At least five (5) years of experience in a school custodial position and or equivalent custodial experience.
5. Possess and maintain valid appropriate certifications and licenses, as stipulated by the school district and/or local, state, or federal regulatory agencies, in order to maintain and operate building equipment and/or systems.
6. Experienced in P.C. operation relating to email, online ordering, work order systems, and energy management systems.
7. Ability to supervise and give work direction to custodians.
8. Capable of working cooperatively and congenially with other employees and supervisors.
9. Understanding of and ability to act as a confidential employee regarding staff and students.
10. Motivated, energetic, timely, respectful and a strong proven work ethic.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, and Director of Buildings and Grounds Operations as situationally appropriate.

JOB GOAL: To provide for the safe operation and completion of assigned duties to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for students, teachers, other staff personnel and community.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

Extend hands and arms in all directions to perform custodial duties.
Use upper and lower extremities to perform custodial duties, and upper extremities to handle custodial equipment, shovel snow and push and open doors.
Use hands to select appropriate keys, insert into locks, turn doorknobs, and open doors.
Answer, communicate and dial the telephone and use 2-way radio in clear, precise voice.
Personally respond quickly to emergency situations in all areas of the building, assess each situation and take appropriate action.
Have the physical ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
Perform work in high areas, such as, hoists and ladders.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs all duties associated with the position of Custodian.
2. Ensures proper preventive maintenance is performed on all building systems to enhance the life of building assets and to provide efficient operation. Actively participates in completing preventive maintenance work orders.
3. Assigns work responsibilities and duties to work efficiently and keeps staff on task. Must possess strong leadership traits, promote teamwork, and motivate fellow employees. Reviews staff work; provides input regarding performance; coaches and trains staff.
4. Oversees custodial operations to ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe building. Makes recommendations and changes when improvement is needed. Ensures that ongoing training is provided for all custodial staff as needed in areas of health and safety as well as procedures for cleaning the facility. Actively works with the custodial staff to help clean the facility.
5. Monitors the activity and maintenance of security and life safety systems, including, but not limited to fire, security, emergency exit, parking lot and roadway lighting, and sprinkler systems. Provides a safe and secure building and site. Participates in the maintenance of these systems.
6. Makes repairs to building fixtures and equipment and notifies the Director of Buildings & Grounds Operations when repairs require an outside contractor. Repairs damaged locks, doors, windows, lockers, furniture, sporting equipment, and machinery.
7. Serves on the call list for such things as security, fire, and mechanical issues and must be willing and able to appropriately respond to these calls in a timely manner.
8. Maintains an adequate inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies and equipment, so the efficient flow of work is not interrupted. Actively participates in ordering, stocking, and organizing inventory.
9. Establishes and maintains proper lines of communication between all parties involved, including, but not limited to, principals, teachers, staff, custodians, and the public using the building.
10. Aids in monitoring the work of outside contractors or suppliers to ensure work performed meets job specifications. Informs Director of any issues or concerns.
11. Ensures proper cleaning and inspection of boilers, water heaters, chillers, air handlers, pumps, etc. is completed. Performs, schedules, and oversees repairs or recommends replacement as necessary.
12. Works with principals and other staff to coordinate the set-up of school activities and events, including public and Community Education activities in the facility.
13. Performs routine cleaning assignments for proper cleanliness and sanitation of the facility. Cleans restrooms and replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap; unclogs toilets, sinks, and drinking fountains and performs other minor plumbing repairs as needed. Cleans up spills and sanitizes areas following incidents involving bodily injuries
14. Performs outside grounds maintenance activities including mowing, trimming, and snow and ice removal.
15. Maintains or assists with key management for the building.
16. Actively participates in custodial and maintenance services, preventive maintenance, activity set-up, equipment checks, grounds maintenance, and all other aspects of facility and site maintenance.
17. Ensures energy conservation measures are in place including proper temperature set points, lighting control, and HVAC schedules. Performs spot checks to ensure proper conservation measures are in place.
18. Fulfills requests to move furniture, supplies, and other heavy objects.
19. Performs routine security tours of the building and grounds to which assigned and reports unusual observations to supervisor.
20. Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.
21. Maintains proficiency level in all required District, Health and Safety, and custodial trainings.
22. Maintains all licensure required by employee bargaining contract and State.
23. Employee is responsible to be knowledgeable about all District policy.
