Activities Director

Position Description:
Under the direction of the Superintendent the Activities Director is responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight in the development and implementation of student activity programs to ensure compliance with MN High School League, the Big 9 Conference and National Federation rules and guidelines.

The Activities Director position provides leadership for district activities in grades 6-12. The position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Manages, hires, and oversees the Activities personnel and staff.
  • Manages and oversees bussing, transportation, scheduling of facilities for events for grades 6-12
  • Responsible for oversight of ticketing, registrations, rosters and awards; livestreaming or broadcasting of events.
  • Responsible for implementation of MSHSL bylaws to include student eligibility.
  • Organizes and supervises all activities, practices and tournaments for all District activities to include event security.
  • Prepares, submits, recommends and defends the proposed activities budget.
  • Monitors and authorizes purchases and expenditures.
  • Evaluates programs and collaborates and works with administration in dealing with fiscal and budgetary matters.
  • Coordinates public relation and publicity for all activity events and programs.  Collaborates and works with the local media, students, parents and community groups/organizations concerning program events/programs.
  • Provides leadership and direction in the formulation of strategic plans and programs to operate a balanced, integrated and comprehensive Activities Program.  Oversees the planning, development, evaluation and improvement of department goals, objectives and programming

Qualifications:

  • Minnesota teaching license and previous coaching/activities director experience

  • Develop and evaluate coaches and directors.

The ideal candidate is someone with strengths and background in systemwide accountability for equity and inclusion.

  • Program Leadership: provide leadership around the development, implementation and coordination of systemwide efforts around the district equity plan aligned with the district strategic roapmap.
  • Multilingual and English Language Learner Programming: develop and refine multilingual learner service delivery models.
  • Professional Development: design, deliver or otherwise provide professional development for staff to build capacity to better serve the education needs of a diverse community

SISA Coordinator-Secondary Curriculum

Coordinator position is part of the district School Improvement and Student Achievement (SISA) team supporting PK-12+ staff, students, and families through development and implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment that is rigorous and culturally proficient. SISA team works collaboratively with building and district administration to support school improvement plans. Key areas of responsibility include:

  •  Secondary Curriculum Review and Development: align standards and identify essential learner outcomes; facilitate curriculum review, development and implementation for various content areas, CTE, and Pathways in grades 6-12
  • AVID District Director: support and train building coordinators; support professional development for all staff; facilitate building site plans and CCI review
  • Professional Development: support and coach staff in implementation of new curriculum and instruction; facilitate new teacher orientation
