PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

·        A valid Minnesota teaching license, certificate, or other legal credentials required for level of assignment.

·        Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education is desirable

·        Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.

·        Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, and as well as students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
·        Acquires knowledge of the school’s academic programs and expectations/goals; works to support and achieve those goals

·        Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for self and students; communicates them to students and their families

·        Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful and interesting as well as Multicultural/Gender/Ability Fair; selects, adapts and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills

·        Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving

·        Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources to support learning

·        Assesses student developmental, cognitive, and social needs, and provides developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs

·        Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment

·        Facilitates positive interactions between students and teacher, student and peers, and student and other adults

·        Models learning and behaviors consistent with the expectations for students

·        Assesses own instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP)

·        Participates in ongoing and regular staff, team and individual professional development

·        Collaborates with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students

·        Develops guidelines for safety and the school day classroom behavior; ensures students follow them

·        Organizes desks, bulletin boards, classroom materials, computer stations and other classroom displays as directed by senior administration

·        Teaches subjects to students, tracks assignments, grades tests, and assigns homework regularly

·        Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning

·        Participates in all staff development as scheduled

·        Maintains consistencies in instructional programs and other academic decisions made by shared leadership of the staff and senior administration.

·        Follows other duties as assigned by the senior administration.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·        Assists the senior administration with marketing the school through the use of banners, flyers, brochures, signs, fundraising events, etc. as needed

·        Ability and willingness to keep records and office space organized and easily accessible

·        Considerable ability to follow through in a timely manner

·        Considerable knowledge of and ability to perform classroom management skills, practices and relationship building

·        Considerable skills in teaching others to safely operate office machines and equipment

·        Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to members of the public, the community, the staff, the students, and the administration

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of personality types and dispositions in numerous circumstances while maintaining a controlled, tactful, respectful, professional manner

STANDARD 1:    Teachers accommodate student differences when they plan for instruction.  Educational Assistants collaboratively plan and implement instruction designed to accommodate student differences.  Educational Assistants will assist English language learner students:

 

·        address learning styles

·        collaborate with teachers to use curriculum for a diverse student population, subject matter, and skills

·        set high and appropriate expectations for all students and her/himself

·        follow the instructional plan and seek clarification and directions as needed

 

STANDARD 2:    Teacher are active learners as part of a school community.  Educational Assistants are active learners as part of a                                      school community.  Educational Assistants will assist English language learner students:

 

·        actively participate in the professional development process to achieve and give support for Professional development

·        participate in professional development opportunities through district, state, colleges/universities, and professional organizations, business partnerships or other professional strategies

·        are aware of methods to access information about best practices and educational issues

STANDARD 3:    Teachers provide feedback to students and parents/families regarding their learning.  Educational Assistants provide feedback to teachers and students regarding the student’s learning.  Educational Assistants will assist English language learner students:

 

·        provide clear feedback to students regarding their learning

·        use assessment results as feedback to structure future student learning as a member of the Instructional planning team

·        maintain a written record of student achievement as directed

·        support district, school, and classroom expectations through positive reinforcement

 

STANDARD 4:    Teachers continuously thins systematically about their practice to improve their effectiveness.  Educational Assistants continuously think systematically about their practice to improve their effectiveness.  Educational Assistants will assist English language learner students:

Transportation Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE:

To provide students and families with information directly related to transportation. To serve as a conduit between transportation companies and families and ensure that all students abide by school bus policies.

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBIITIES:

·        Greeting all persons in a positive and professional manner

·        Answers and transfers incoming calls; taking messages in a professional manner

·        Assisting with the resolution of parental/student issues related to transportation and/or other inquiries

·        Providing students, staff, families, and the community with information regarding school policies as it relates to transportation

·        Provides the public with information about the school

·        Maintains miscellaneous logs (i.e. visitors, volunteers, student pick-ups)

·        Maintaining and organizing records of misc. data

·        Works closely with and collaborates with staff

·        Assisting other staff as needed

·        Updating student information regarding transportation on Skyward

·        Making sure all changes that impact student transportation is relayed to transportation headquarters

·        Maintaining regular and daily contact with transportation headquarters

·        Resolving issues related to transportation

·        Helps students develop a positive attitude toward school and learning

·        Following additional duties as outlined by senior administration

·        Supervise students in the lunch room while maintaining a clean and orderly lunch period for students

·        Enforce lunch room processes and expectations

·       Collaborate with bus company to organize bus schedules for all students

a.      Collecting all bus information

b.      Making phone calls to parents and/or bus headquarters to ensure proper transportation

c.      Providing families with proper busing information

d.      Resolving bus issues

e.      Maintain regular contact with bus headquarters

f.       Educating students, families, and staff about bus safety

g.      Scheduling field trips that require busing

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

To maintain a safe and clean environment for students and staff. Job involves primarily cleaning
responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 1st Class Boilers License Required

WAGES:
As per the current custodial master agreement. Starting at $27.04/hr. (base $23.78 + Lead $3.26)

Coordinator of Safety and Special Projects

Position Summary:  

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Finance & Operations and the Director of Facilities and Transportation, the Coordinator of Safety and Special Projects is responsible for supervising and coordinating the safety operations of the district to include administrative and instructional areas; responsible for bus safety training; responsible for supervising the use of school district owned or leased vehicles.  The Coordinator of Safety and Special Projects will be assigned additional special projects to support.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead and collaborate
