General Summary/Purpose of Job:
The Communications and Events Coordinator facilitates logistical and organizational tasks related to Metro ECSU professional development events and Success Beyond the Classroom (SBC) student programs. This Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining the Metro ECSU website, developing marketing materials, and communicating programming offered through Metro ECSU & SBC to members and external agencies.

Essential Duties:
These duties are a representative sample; duties may vary. Full time position.

Support Marketing Efforts for Metro ECSU & SBC programming:
Maintain and update list of superintendents, executive assistants, curriculum directors, and principals
Create flyers about Metro ECSU & SBC events
Send email marketing blasts every other week, or as needed
Manage Metro ECSU social media accounts and post regularly
Proofread Metro ECSU’s e-newsletter and additional documents as needed

Maintain Metro ECSU website and ensure webpages have accessible document formatting{
Consult with Metro ECSU’s accessibility expert as needed

Facilitate, Support and Attend Successful Metro ECSU & SBC events:

Respond to initial professional development requests from districts or schools (in consultation with the Executive Director)
Assist in finding and coordinating speaker(s) and topics for workshops and developing an agenda
Reserve event space and/or set up a virtual meeting space
Work with caterer if needed
Work with Executive Director to prepare a contract and collect signature(s) for the vendor contract and presenter contract
Create marketing materials (emails, flyers, social media posts, web site content) to communicate Metro ECSU & SBC workshop opportunities and student conference and academic competitions
Set up and monitor event registration
Email reminders, agenda, and Zoom link to participants
Create nametags, sign-in sheets, directional signage, handouts for in-person events
Coordinate with and assist workshop presenter
Create POs, send invoices, and process payments from attendees
Create registration on MQR site
Oversee check-in the day of event (both in-person and virtual)
Create certificates of attendance and request certificates from licensing agencies (CEUs from MDE, BOSA, etc.)
Create, send, and summarize evaluation surveys

Facilitate and support Metro ECSU’s Homeschool Liaison and Friday Forum Networks:
Schedule dates and reserve space or secure virtual technology
Create and update flyers
Create and monitor registration pages
Assist in finding and coordinating speaker(s) and topics for each session
Assist in creating an agenda
Email reminders, agenda, and Zoom link to participants
Assist in facilitating sessions
Record and distribute minutes
Create contracts if necessary
Create certificates of attendance and request certificates from licensing agencies (CEUs from MDE, BOSA, etc.)
Create, send, summarize evaluation surveys
Create POs, send invoices, and process payments from attendees

Facilitate and support Metro ECSU’s Health & Safety monthly meetings and quarterly trainings:
Receive and process annual Health & Safety Program membership fees
Work with Health & Safety Specialist to schedule registered unlicensed electrical and chemical hygiene quarterly trainings
Coordinate with presenters as needed
Communicate and send reminders to participants
Track and record attendance at meetings/events
Reserve event space or secure virtual technology
Catering and event set up (if in-person)
Invoice districts
Create POs, invoices, requisitions payment for presenter
Collect and distribute needed paperwork (if virtual)

Other Duties as Assigned by Executive Director

Athletic Director/Assistant Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Management
• Plans, recommends, and implements strategies to support co-curricular programs.
• Promotes continuous improvement in all programs and activities.
• Communicates school district philosophy to all coaches and advisors.
• Insures that coaches and advisors are adhering to district policies.
• Promotes positive messages to the general public concerning co-curricular programs and activities.
• Develops co-curricular schedules and maintains a master calendar.
• Build relationships with community and youth programs to promote participation.
• Organizes and coordinates transportation.
• Proficient in technology and develop streaming events for the community.
• Provide instructional leadership as needed in the following areas:
*Staff observations and evaluations.
*Special Services IEP and 504 plans.
*Student safety and discipline.
• Additional areas as assigned by the Principal.

Supervision
• Sets up activity event supervision with fellow administrators and supervises events.
• Manages and supervises all co-curricular staff.
• Recruit, train, and retain high quality coaches and leaders.
• Provides training sessions.
• Evaluates coaching and advisory staff and programs.
• Works with the high school principal and/or superintendent to administer staff discipline.

Budget
• Maintains a system for financial accountability.
• Monitors co-curricular expenditures and income generated.
• Makes recommendations concerning program budgets and needs.
• Collects revenues from various events.
• Oversees student activity accounts related to co-curricular programs.
• Fundraises for the athletic department.

Student Eligibility/School Events
• Distributes information and eligibility rules to students, staff and parents regarding activities.
• In coordination with the high school principal, administers student discipline for co-curricular activities.

Physical Therapist

Position Purpose  
The school Physical Therapist (PT) provides instructional support by collaborating with general education and special education staff regarding adaptations and modifications to educational equipment, instruction, or the instructional environment that may help students with physical disabilities reach their special education goals related to functional mobility and environmental access.

Essential Duties

  • Identification, Screening and Evaluation
    • Complete in-home evaluations and assessments of infants and toddlers, ages birth to three, as deemed appropriate by screening results, medical records or evaluation team decision
    • Complete informal screening of students whose parents or teachers express concerns regarding a student’s gross motor abilities
    • Complete school-based evaluations for students ages three through 21 suspected of having disabilities as well as those with disabilities who are currently receiving special education and related services
    • Facilitate procurement and review of appropriate medical notes, as applicable
    • Interpret results of motor assessments to determine the effect of physical impairments on a students’ ability to learn and access the educational setting
    • Complete relevant portions of evaluation summary reports, including the documentation evaluation results and present levels, the identification of educational needs, and, when appropriate, additions and modifications necessary to promote adequate progress and access to the general curriculum.
  • Service Delivery
    • Develop therapeutic strategies and accommodations specific to the student’s needs
    • Facilitate accommodations and modifications to educational materials, assistive technology, and the instructional environment
    • Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to infants and toddlers, ages birth to three, in a home setting throughout the calendar year
    • Provide direct and indirect PT services to students ages three through 21 throughout the school year
    • Assist in gathering accurate and timely data related to student progress, regularly review student progress, and assist in making instructional changes, when necessary, to allow students to make adequate progress and have meaningful and appropriate access to the general curriculum
    • Maintain proper documentation of service, in accordance with state and federal requirement
      Curriculum and Instruction
    • Provide input on curriculum and instruction development, selection, and implementation as requested
    • Assist in the development and procurement of accessible instructional materials, as needed
  • Consultation and Collaboration
    • Assist in Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning for students with physical disabilities and adaptive/functional needs, including attending IEP meetings, providing input on IEP goals related to PT service, and determining appropriate accommodations, modifications and supports
    • Collaborate on the development of Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Plans of Care for students covered under the MInnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) who require school-based PCA support for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
    • Assist educational team with the development of evacuation plans for students who require them and provide training on proper use and storage of evacuation equipment
    • Participate in planning and procedural committee meetings at SCRED
    • Advise on the selection of specialized equipment and instructional materials/supplies when the need for Assistive Technology (AT) is identified.
    • Monitor the use of necessary equipment to ensure proper functioning as well as consistency and fidelity of use
  • Professional Learning
    • Provide ongoing training to educational teams, including the initial training and ongoing monitoring of the use and care of specialized equipment, curriculum materials, motor and positioning strategies, and environmental modifications
    • Provide required training and supervision of PCAs providing school-based ADL services to students covered under MHCP
    • Facilitate professional learning in areas of expertise to individual student teams, parents, and SCRED and member district staff or other service providers, as requested
    • Develop resources pertinent to PT services when the need for such resources is identified
    • Actively participate in the regional PT community of practice (COP) as well as other relevant state or regional professional learning opportunities

Position Summary:
Provide direct career pathway instruction in Owatonna Public Schools Adult Learning Center to improve educational outcomes for adult learners in the mastery of skills needed to compete and build careers  Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance and outreach, collaborating with other staff on curriculum and content development, keeping student records and supporting volunteers.  Requires using inquiry and cooperative teaching strategies to deliver instruction through in-person and hy-flex learning environments. The teaching/learning relationship that supports and encourages the success of every adult learner through the center’s career pathways is held to the highest standards. Successful candidates will have strong, implementation-based knowledge of Minnesota Adult Basic Education content standards and demonstrated experience delivering instruction through multi-agency and community-based learning partnerships. Adult courses utlize the integrated education and training model to deliver English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, College and Career Readiness, Workforce Preparation and Career Pathway Programming. The primary focus of this position will be to provide instructional content that fosters essential skills in growing the pipeline from adult education to credential-granting programs and/or the workforce. Opportunities to deliver regional instruction through online platforms will be a new and professionally supported priority for the 2022-2023 program year. Multiple paid professional development oppotunities included in fulltime assignment.

Qualifications:
A valid MN teaching license. Highly skilled in virtual learning platforms and digital literacy. Demonstrated use of innovative strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at high levels.  Experience in utilizing inquiry and collaborative teaching/learning approaches to instruction across all GED, ESL and Career Pathway content areas preferred with documented training and/or experience in using ABE’s College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRS) and Academic, Career and Employability Skills (ACES) Transitions Integration Framework (TIF).  Previous experience in working with adult learners in an interactive, results-oriented environment preferred.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff.  Ability to work as a teacher-leader in building a collaborative learning partnership highly prized in a successful candidate. Bi-lingual skills desired. Consistent and reliable attendance a must.
