Hiawatha Valley Education District provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 3 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. Hiawatha Valley Education District also has a Setting IV Behavior Program, located in Kellogg, MN that provides programming for grades K-12 students with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. Hiawatha Valley Education District provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder located in Hokah, MN. HVED offers an Alternative Learning Center housed in MN College SE located in Winona, MN.  Hiawatha Valley Education District is committed to providing the best special education services to staff and students in southeast Minnesota.

Part-time Food Service Director

FLSA Status:  Non-exempt

Reports to:  Executive Director

 

The Food Service Director manages and supervises the overall operations of the service of meals, food and catering services provided in accordance with relevant federal and state guidelines.

 

Qualifications

·       A bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field with a minimum of two years of success management experience in an institutional school nutrition program; or five years of successful management experience in an institutional school nutrition program.

·       Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

·       Capable of operating office equipment and communication devices needed to orderly conduct responsibilities of the position

·       Must be able to work in team decision-making situations, as well as independently

·       Must be able to communicate tactfully and effectively and maintain confidentiality

·       Must possess the ability to problem-solve

·       Must possess ability to coordinate with others and lead teams when necessary

·       Must maintain a patient attitude

·       Must possess the ability to learn and interpret school policies and procedure

 

Duties and Responsibilities Include (but not limited to)

·       Responsible for all aspects of school nutrition

·       Organizes and directs procurement for food, supplies, equipment, and contracted services in accordance with state and federal requirements

·       Serves as liaison with administration, staff, and parents to promote the health and education benefits of the school meals program

·       Communicates information about local, state, and federal regulations as they affect program operations to other administrative team members

·       Supports district goals and promotes an environment that is respectful for all.  Works collaboratively with other staff to focus on the needs of the learner.  Maintains a customer focus that conveys a welcome attitude, an adaptability to change, and a desire for continuous improvement.

·       Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements

·       School building, office, lifting, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.

·       Ability to lift 50 pounds

 

Travel Requirements

This position works out of the HVED District Office.  This position will be required to travel between HVED Programs.

 

Assistant Coach- Speech Team

POSITION:
Assistant Speech Team Coach
Season Dates: August 14, 2023 – November 11, 2023

DUTIES:
Serve as assistant coach for the Centennial High School Speech team. This may include but not limited to setting up practices, meets, and schedules for the program; supervision of athletes at practices and meets; care and maintenance of program equipment; arranging team transportation; willingness to work in collaboration with the booster club and regular meetings with other coaches to evaluate goals of the overall program. Must be ablet o adjust work schedule for practices and games.

Preferences:
A BA/BS Degree and MN Teacher License with coaching certificate highly preferred.

Qualifications:
A strong background in high school, collegiate, and/or collegiate speech (forensic sciences) as a participant and coach is required. Strong work ethic and dedication to furthering the benefits of participation in co-curricular activities. Leadership skills including but not limited to organization, vision, motivation, and conflict resolution. Ability to work collaboratively with student athletes, parents, staff, and community.

Salary: Compensation is accordance with Schedule B.

This may include, but not limited to setting up practices, invitationals, and schedules for the program; supervision of athletes at practices and games; care and maintenance of program equipment; arranging team transportation; working with booster club and regular meetings with other coaches to evaluate goals of the overall program. Must be able to adjust work schedule for practices and competitions. Preferences: A BA/BS Degree and MN Teacher License with coaching certificate highly preferred.

Qualifications: A strong background in youth, high school, or club track and field as a participant and/or coach is required. Strong work ethic and dedication to furthering the benefits of participation in co-curricular activities. Leadership skills including but not limited to organization, vision, motivation, and conflict resolution. Ability to work with student athletes, parents, staff, and community. Previous experience as an athlete and/or coach.

Salary: Compensation in accordance with Schedule B; $4,207.

Licensed Care Specialist- Float- Temporary

DISTRICT WIDE LICENSED CARE SPECIALIST FLOAT- Temporary
1.0 FTE – Licensed Care Specialist- LPN or RN
-Assignment will be at least 6 weeks long with potential to be 12 weeks in length
8 hours/day- hours dependent on building need
Elementary School Hours: 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM
Middle and High School Hours: 7:45 AM – 3:00 PM

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must be a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) with the State of Minnesota.
-Demonstrate the highest commitment to student achievement and effective development.
-Willingness to adapt to becoming part of a total school effort in educating our students.
-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, students and parents in providing and promoting positive relationships.
-Must be of the highest integrity with a strong commitment to modeling excellence in all aspects of the teacher/student/parent relationships.
-Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities:
Direct Care, Medication Administration, Maintenance and updating of Student Health Files/Immunizations, Health Screenings, Implementation of Procedures under the direction/delegation of the Licensed School Nurse.

WAGES: Consistent with the current Teachers’ Master Agreement. Starting at $23.57.
