Barnum High School serves approximately 355 students in grades 7-12. Our district is located in beautiful rural NE Minnesota, just off of I-35, 30 miles south of Duluth and the North Shore.

We are looking for a High School Principal who will:

·         be the educational and instructional leader of our high school;

·         be responsible to the Superintendent of Schools for all organization, administration and supervision within the assigned building;

·         be of good character and lead by example, with a strong moral compass;

·         have effective oral and written communication skills;

·         possess excellent organizational skills; and

·         demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.

Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager provides support to the Executive Director of Administrative Services to establish policies and procedures to create and sustain a comprehensive, coordinated, and responsive Human Resources Department that addresses and delivers a wide variety of services in support of the District Strategic Plan. The position provides leadership and guidance to the department, with the primary objective being continuous improvement and systems development in addition to daily management of the Human Resources function.

  • Research best practices, develop and implement work methods and processes for the department and its employees to maintain an effective and efficient service-based department; recommend changes in procedures to improve effectiveness and service; assess the effectiveness of current operations and make changes to improve as needed.
  • Manage HRIS system protocols and procedures to ensure successful functioning and optimization of system, including HR-Payroll coordination and alignment, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Receive and process all requests for leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with ADA, FMLA and requirements of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage annual staffing process with Executive Director of Administrative Services, ensuring alignment with budget parameters and requirements of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assist in contract negotiations process, including pre-bargaining preparation and subsequent analysis and evaluation of proposals.
  • Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the employee on-boarding process.
  • Prepare state/federal mandated compliance reports in matters pertaining to human resources (e.g., Pay Equity, STAR, CRDC).
  • Provide leadership for the Human Resources sections on the District website, staff intranet and other employee communications.
  • Oversee the annual Staff Recognition event in collaboration with Communications Department.
  • Review the preparation of annual department budget and manage department budget expenditures.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns from employees using discretion and confidentiality.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Administrative Services in the performance of his/her duties, providing advice and counsel.
  • Represent the Executive Director of Administrative Services in his/her absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Education teacher
