ABOUT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT/COMMUNITY: The Southwest Metro Intermediate District’s main office is located in Shakopee, Minnesota. Southwest Metro 288 is an intermediate district providing specialized educational services to a group of 11 member school districts and 6 associate member districts.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE: The Southwest Metro Intermediate District 288 School Board seeks an experienced and respected educational leader with a strong background in special education, a record of sound fiscal management and academic improvement. Key attributes desired include:

  • Supports the implementation of plans to address the social and emotional well being; mental health; safety and security; diversity, equity and inclusion; and belonging needs of both students and staff.
  • Is visible and accessible across the district and with our member districts.
  • Holds proven capacity in human relations and communications.

SALARY/CONTRACT: A competitive compensation and benefits package, with a starting salary range of $185,000 – $205,000, will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. Contract length is negotiable as provided in Minnesota statute. An excellent benefits package is also available.

Qualifications
A current Minnesota SLP Licensure is required for the position or the ability to obtain a Tier 2 license. An MA/MS Speech/Language Pathology is preferred for the position. An American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification of Clinical Competence (CCCs) is also preferred.

Responsibilities
– Develops and administers SLP curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
– Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
– Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.
– Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by the district.
– Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
– Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in PLCs and other monthly meetings.

Primary Function (Purpose of Position): A DeLaSalle High School Biology teacher will have a strong background in biological sciences, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire and engage high school students. This position involves teaching both standard Biology and our Honors Biology courses, preparing students for success in college-level biology, and fostering a positive learning environment.
