Position Title: Graduation Support Specialist and School Advocate Location: The SE/Metro Regional Center of Excellence SSOS Team serves schools in the 11 southeast counties and 7 Twin Cities/Metro counties of Minnesota. Many services, planning meetings, and trainings are conducted in the Twin Cities area, while team meetings are held at the Southeast Service Cooperative in Rochester. This individual will office from home. Regional Centers of Excellence Overview: The Regional Centers of Excellence (RCEs), in partnership with districts, schools and charters, focuses school improvement and turnaround efforts on equity and underserved student groups so that schools can meet the needs of each student and ensure that each student benefits from a high-quality school. Specialist Competencies: 1) plan, facilitate, and evaluate professional development and provide technical assistance 2) supporting the implementation of the Minnesota Early Indicator and Response System (MEIRS) for identifying students at risk of not completing high school in four years provide onsite support to high schools, middle schools, and districts using the seven-step MEIRS Implementation Cycle including: – reviewing and interpetings MEIRS data – selecting effective interventions and strategies that engage at-risk students – using tools and guidelines to effectively implement student interventions and measure progress 3) identify and analyze data measuring high school effectiveness, career- and college-readiness, and high school student engagement 4) support secondary school teams to successfully implement evidence-based high school strategies and activities that improve instruction and support student engagement 5) differentiate continuous improvement resources, processes, and tools to support secondary schools 6) differentiate supports for credit- and dropout-recovery high schools
