The Transportation Director is responsible for the overall management of the transportation department to assure efficient operations and to provide for the safety of transporting students. Management: *Plans, recommends and implements transportation for students. *Determines and enters student information into electronic system for transporting purposes. *Monitors district-wide transporting of students. *Oversees the Special Education bus routes. *Establishes procedures and preventative maintenance of school district vehicles. *Oversees training of drivers, office staff and transportation aides as needed. *Assists in the screening, interviewing and selecting of candidates for employment. *Develops specifications, procedures and summaries for school district purchases. *Monitors to assure all school district vehicles are registered, licensed, insured, and meet state inspection standards. *Monitors weather conditions and upon communication with Superintendent of Schools, assists with school closing procedures. *Coordinates reports and records as required. *Inspects student discipline referrals and handles situations as determined by district discipline policy. *Drives routes in emergency situations. *Works collaboratively with the management of the District’s private bus contractor to ensure a smooth, efficient, and effective transportation program. *Oversees the District’s Welcome Center and the enrollment of students in the District. *Organize meetings and collaborative opportunities for safety and benefit of all students. *Homeless Liaison for the district. *Reports to the Superintendent, Cabinet and Board of Education. Budget: *Maintains a system for financial accountability. *Monitors transportation expenditures. *Makes recommendation concerning budget and needs. Supervision: *Manages and supervises all transportation staff and Welcome Center staff. *Organizes and oversees regular and required training sessions. *Evaluates the performance of bus drivers. *Knowledge of district routes and supervises the routing plan and implementation. Committees: *Responsible for in-servicing of transportation employees. *Attends board meetings as resource person, when requested. *Attends and participates in cabinet and administrative meetings. Performs all work duties as assigned. CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Physical Involvement: *Position involves frequent fingering keys for word processing. *Position involves frequent repetitive motion in performing tasks. *Position involves occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. *Position involves lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling in the performance of the job. *Position requires regular periods of sitting at a computer. *Position involves listening, speaking clearly and visual acuity. Mental Involvement: *Position requires multi-tasking while dealing with constant interruptions. *Position requires flexibility and a willingness to undertake a variety of requests for assistance, sometimes from more than one person. *Position requires exercising confidentiality in handling School District information. *Position requires need for extreme accuracy on a daily as well as permanent basis. *Position requires planning for upcoming scheduled events and deadlines in a timely manner. Working Conditions: *Normal office conditions. *Travel required between buildings. *Exposure to risks and hazards. *Irregular and unpredictable hours depending upon weather conditions, building needs, etc. Supervision of Other Employees: *This position requires supervision of transportation and Welcome Center employees.

Educational Assistant – Part Time

Position Description: Educational Assistants provide support to the school that may include supervising students before and/or after school, supervising in the lunchroom, and supporting students in the classroom. This position will include supervising students who are unable to eat in the regular cafeteria due to detention assignment. It will also include supervising students in In-School Suspension. Lunchroom EAs help monitor students, clean cafeteria and prepare for the next lunch period. The Noon Supervision Educational Assistant needs to be able to handle student behaviors. In addition, Educational Assistants may provide support for the office, including running passes, covering for the CSO officer, or fill in as needed in other areas. Other Skills & Abilities: Provide a variety of suggestions in working with students in the school setting. Maintain flexibility in day to day dealing with staff and students. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a tight daily schedule and with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, student and administrators. Oral and written bilingual skills preferred. Consistent and reliable attendance. Hours/Schedule: 5 – 5.75 hours per day/ Monday – Friday / Exact hours to be determined once schedules have been solidified.
