Special Education Finance Specialist
Position Title: Special Education Finance Specialist
Start Date: June 16, 2025
Hours: Full Time position, 261 contract days
Description:
This position is responsible for providing administrative support activities requiring thorough knowledge and understanding of special education rules, regulations and policies that affect the entire District. Works collaboratively with the Director of Student Support Services to monitor Federal Funded staff for fiscal monitoring purposes.
Minimum Requirements:
Associates Degree in Accounting and five years of increasingly responsible experience related to the areas of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
Knowledge preferred:
- Experience with Special Education finance
- UFARS, SERVS Financial and SEDRA Knowledge
- General principles and practices of accounting
- General governmental fund accounting practices
- Financial software (currently using Skyward)
- Applicable knowledge of MN and Federal rules and regulations
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement, coordinate and supervise district special education accounting functions necessary to maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, state statutes and board policy.
- Assist with analyzing legislative updates and other procedural guideline changes and interpret impact on the department’s financial position. Review all special services finance budgeting checks and balances along with 3rd party billing revenues. Advise director on the budget administration.
- Compile and analyze District information such as employee salaries, all State and Federal funds such as, Title, Alternative Delivery, RTI, Federal Section 619 and 611, Statewide, diversity and develop reports as requested by the Director of Student Support Services. Serve as assistant to Director for Student Support Services for legal financial matters.
- Collect and prepare confidential data and develop service billing forms for the district such as tuition bills and agreements, care and treatment bills, outside agency bills.
- Monitor compliance with federally funded staff. Collects time study activity logs and recalculates the percent of expenditure that comes out of the federal funds based on the time spent on the aligned activity.
- Assist with year-end audit procedures including, tuition agreements, calculation of receivables and revenue verification.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Salary Range: $62,500-$75,000

POSITION AVAILABLE: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – multiple positions available
POSITION LOCATION: SWWC is located and provides service to school districts in the Southwest and West Central portion of Minnesota. This position would provide services in-person, or in a virtual or hybrid delivery model.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Educational Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) identifies, evaluates, designs, and implements appropriate plans for students, writes IEPs, and is a member of the Child Study Team. The Educational SLP also meets with parents, interprets student progress, informs parents about their child’s progress, and is available for in-services. These services will take place onsite.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of Master’s Degree. CCC-SLP preferred, however, CFY is available. Need to be licensed/eligible for licensure in the State of Minnesota and also have a valid driver’s license.
CONTRACT/SALARY: This full-time position begins on August 6, 2025, for the 2025-2026 school year, Bachelor’s degree salary range of $50,855 to $71,248. Master’s salary range of $60,646 to $92,477. PhD salary range of $70,196 to $94,068. Salary depending on education, qualifications, abilities, and experien-ce. The role includes excellent benefits, details of which can be found here. Candidates who have not previously served in a SLP position within our organization, and will be providing full-time in-person services are eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus.
