Description: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Security and Emergency Management, plan, execute, and communicate the safety, security, and emergency management programs of the District to ensure regulatory and procedural compliance, emergency and crisis preparedness, and safety for all scholars, staff, and community members; make appropriate and equitable use of resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the District and department for which employed; support District and department leaders implementation of improvement plans; build capacity in staff to meet system-wide and department initiatives; initiate and sustain collaboration within and across departments, programs, and buildings; support in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous learning and services when applicable; participate in District and department leadership activities.Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet the needs of the district and department at the discretion of the supervisor.

 

Job Summary:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties:

 

Securtity and Emergency Management Security Plan – Maintain and communicate district emergency planning and crisis preparedness programs

Design, develop, and maintain a districtwide emergency preparedness program (long and short-range plans) in cooperation with other agencies, including 911, local law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and the Security and Emergency Management Advisory Committee (SEMAC)
Participate and support SEMAC in collaboration with the Director of Transportation and Security and Emergency Management Operations and Assistant Director of Security and Emergency Management
Maintaining and communicating district emergency planning and crisis preparedness programs implementing the district security and emergency management programs including comprehensive procedures and policies which pertain to the security and emergency management of all district locations
Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining a districtwide emergency preparedness program (long and short-range plans) in cooperation with other agencies, including 911, local law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and SEMAC
Develop, influence, and nurture trust-based relationships with government officials at city, county, state, and federal levels and act as district representative to these entities in collaboration with the Director of Transportation and Security and Emergency Management Operations and the Assistant Director of Security and Emergency Management
Participate in the district’s behavior threat assessment program and assist in monitoring supports and interventions.
Monitoring compliance with internal audit and security and emergency policies, procedures and training as well as local, state, and federal regulatory requirements; monitor and coordinate compliance with district standards for security and emergency management, emergency planning, crisis preparedness, and advising the Assistant Director of Security and Emergency Management regarding identified gaps in compliance and security and emergency vulnerabilities
Coordinating support for district staff and community members, deliver presentations, provide guidance and act as a resource; establishing system for responding to concerns from staff, students, and the public; under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Security and Emergency Management
Providing training for staff as necessary on the crisis emergency management plan and its individual components, emergency planning, crisis preparedness
Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:

 

Law and Government – Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, and political processes, and political organizations
Security Technologies – Knowledge of security systems and programs. This includes and is not limited to camera’s, NVR’s, alarm systems, card access systems and two-way radios
Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness – Knowledge of crisis management protocols, design, and implementation of programs
Developing and presenting employee training
Conducting behavior threat assessments and developing safety and supervision plans
Qualifications:

 

High school diploma or GED required
Associates degree desired + minimum 5 years of experience in similar/equivalent position;
Major field of study or degree emphasis: Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Security Management, Business Administration
Required Work Experience in Addition to Formal Education/Training:

 

A minimum of three years of experience managing security and emergency management program compliance, emergency preparedness, law enforcement, and security
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to examine new approaches and methods, initiate action and render recommendations; use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one; understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making; engage in task analysis, produce detailed plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of processes.
Ability to lead and manage projects, from planning through completion, in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment; work on several projects simultaneously with efficiency and accuracy to detail; prioritize and manage work to meet critical project timelines; develop, design, or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
Ability to effectively engage in conflict resolution, conduct hazard assessments and develop corrective action plans and implement quality improvement concepts
Ability to effectively facilitate and/or participate in meetings and appropriately engage in challenging conversations; lead and encourage staff to reach established strategic objectives; involve others in planning and decision-making.
Ability to develop and present employee training.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to exercise confidentiality and compliance regarding program information and procedures.
Job Type: Full-Time, full-year

Hours: 8 hours/day; 5 days/week;

Salary Range: $67,766 to $78,150,

Bargaining Unit: Salaried Professional Contact, 12 paid holidays, 25 vacation days,1 personal day, 12 sick days, 403b match, comprehensive medical and dental benefits

Community Education Building Supervisor

Job Summary:

 

Accommodating users who are without permits; notifying Community Education Facilities Scheduling about contact and event information.
Problem-solving permit and user issues.
Reviewing facility permits to determine authorized users and schedule of events; determining and setting up any special equipment or supplies requested by permitted users.
Completing and submitting required reports (e.g., no-shows) to Community Education Facilities Scheduling.
Responsibilities and tasks include:

 

Greeting guests and providing directions to event locations.
Monitoring the activities of individuals who use the facilities or attend events.
Accommodating whenever possible the special requests that users may have that were not anticipated.
Responding promptly to requests from colleagues and community members.
Communicating in a manner that serves to diffuse confrontations.
Minimum Qualifications include:

 

High School diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

 

Controlling access to spaces as needed and authorized by permit.
Ensuring that all facility users have left the premises at the completion of the scheduled events.
Assisting facility users with event tear down – restoring facility to neat and original condition, notifying custodian of any extra garbage, and noting any equipment or supplies that were broken.
Responding appropriately to emergencies and/or injuries; calling 911 if necessary.
Promptly completing and submitting required reports (e.g., incident reports, blood borne pathogen incident reports) to Community Education Facilities Scheduling.
Remaining alert to potentially unsafe situations and notifying custodian of unsafe conditions; stopping any unsafe or questionable activities.
Rate of Pay: $17/hour
